2010 Baja California earthquake

Most of the damage in this earthquake occurred in the Mexico-USA border twin cities Mexicali and Calexico.[5] At least two people were killed and 100 people were injured.[2]

I remember when they put the new 395 divided hiway through it bypassed Tom’s Place which was on the old hiway and they didn’t like that much....:o) My favorite fishing was upper and lower Rock Creek which ran right through Tom’s Place.
My intro to Tom’s Place was a Geology field trip with my friend Cheryl and my little sister along for the ride. We got started late and trying to find the campsite drove a bit too far up and hit snow flurries. Brave girls we were... we had practiced setting up my Dad’s 8 man tent before going... but not prepared for the darkness and the weather. Proud to say we did get the tent up... froze our patooties that night!
I wonder if London Bridge is falling down?

The magnitude 7.2 northern Baja California earthquake of Sunday April 4th 2010, occurred approximately 40 miles south of the Mexico-USA border at shallow depth along the principal plate boundary between the North American and Pacific plates. This is an area with a high level of historical seismicity, and also it has recently been seismically active, though this is the largest event to strike in this area since 1892. Today's earthquake appears to have been larger than the M 6.9 earthquake in 1940 or any of the early 20th century events (e.g., 1915 and 1934) in this region of northern Baja California.
At the latitude of the earthquake, the Pacific plate moves northwest with respect to the North America plate at about 45 mm/y. The principal plate boundary in northern Baja California consists of a series of northwest-trending strike-slip (transform) faults that are separated by pull-apart basins. The faults are distinct from, but parallel to, strands of the San Andreas fault system. The April 4 main-shock occurred along a strike-slip segment of the plate boundary that coincides with the southeastern part of the Laguna Salada fault. Although the location and focal-mechanism of the earthquake are consistent with the shock having occurred on this fault, we do not yet have surface rupture or other confirmation. Aftershocks appear to extend in both directions along this fault system from the epicenter of today's event. The aftershock zone extends from the northern tip of the Gulf of California to the Mexico-USA border.
Earthquakes having magnitudes as high as 7 have been historically recorded from the section of the Pacific/North American plate boundary on which the 4 April 2010 earthquake occurred. The 1892 earthquake occurred along the Laguna Salada fault system, but significantly farther northwest than today's event epicenter. The 1940 Imperial Valley earthquake approached magnitude 7, though it occurred farther to the north and on the Imperial fault. Both the 1892 and 1940 earthquakes were associated with extensive surface faulting. An event of M 7.0 or 7.1 occurred in this region in 1915, and then a M 7.0 to 7.2 in 1934 broke the Cerro Prieto fault with up to several meters of surface slip.
In the vicinity of the 4 April 2010 earthquake, there are several active faults and it has not yet been determined specifically which fault the earthquake occurred on. Within the transition from the ridge-transform boundary in the Gulf of California to the continental transform boundary in the Salton Trough, faulting is complex. Most of the major active faults are northwest-southeast oriented right-lateral strike-slip faults that are common in mechanism to the San Andreas fault and parallel Elsinore and San Jacinto faults, that run north of the Mexico-USA border.

Our pastor, (Dr. Stephen Davey at Colonial Bapitst Church i Cary, NC - http://www.colonial.org - preached about the Centurion yesterday - and, yes, the events that occurred during the crucifixion of Jesus Christ - which convinced him that Jesus was the Son of God! And, yes, the earthquake that occurred during the time Jesus was on the cross - was one of those signs.
(Another sign that I had not really thought about or understood fully, was that when Jesus was saying, “Father, forgive them for they know not what they do.” - he was specifically praying for the centurion and the other soldiers who were carrying out the death sentence which had been administered against Jesus. Pastor Davey said Jesus was not praying for the sanhedrin members - they KNEW what they were doing. He said Jesus was not praying for the Jewish women who had gathered (these women - not the folllowers of Jesus but the Jewish women who evidently would come and mourn for any Jew who had to suffere the horrible sentence of death by crucifixion which the Romans practiced so regularly - doing about 3 or 4 crucifixions every day). These women KNEW what was happening.
No, Jesus was specifically intervening for those soldiers who did not know what they were doing - asking for His Father to forgive them! And Pastor Davey said, the prayer was not just said once but that the Greek indicates that with every hammer on the nails which were being put through Jesus’ flesh, He would cry out on behalf of those who wielded the hammer!
This Centurion saw and heard this condemned and tortured man, not caring about himself at all, but even while going through the agony which the Centurion and his soldiers were administering to Him, praying for forgiveness for THEM - for HIM - became the first believer after the death of Jesus!
Another convincing event was the 3 hour period of darkness which occurred during the hours Jesus hung on that cruel cross - an event discussed by secular writers of that time - including Pilate himself who wrote to others in a letter of that time in which he assumed the recipient knew abot this strange period of darkness which occurred on that date and at that hour.
The hour of the darkness began at 12 noon when the sun is at its height and the sky should be the brightest of the day, God darkened the sun!
God uses nature - Creation - to accomplish His purposes. The clouds, the sun, the moon, the stars, the earth, the waters, the trees and plants, and the animals - all were made by Him and are His servants there to carry out His will and to glorify Him!
God was there yesterday in these earthquakes just as He has been there in all the recent earthquakes and the recent events of weather - and, indeed - in the unusual clouds that have been reported around the world - directing his “servants” who obey Him totally!
7.2 shallow earthquake and very little damage or casualties? I have a niece in San Francisco by the way.
Everyone should be on our faces before Him in thanksgiving and praise for His goodness to the people of California and to all of us!
His purpose is that all who possibly will turn to Him before He returns shortly for His beloveds - before that great and terrible time of Tribulation (in which the antichrist will rule and put to death all who refuse to accept his mark which will be necessary to buy or sell.
The mechanism to administer this mark (from hell) is contained in the healthcare legislation. This is the reason O could not possibly stop until it was Passed into law. (Perry Stone has much on this subject).
HC Legislation IS straight from hell from satan and will be used by the Antichrist to control the world’s people, and to accomplish his purposes (which of course are fully under the ultimate control of Jesus Christ - but which must happen in order to fulfill prophecy - God’s Word IS TRUE about ALL it states!)
Please, everyone and anyone who can read this - who has not yet turned to Jesus - please do so today! RUN to Him. He will not turn you away! The Bible says that He who comes to Him, Jesus will in no wise cast you out!
He LONGS to save you (save = sozo = make you whole) to deliver you from all bondage and all evil and especially from the great time of wrath about to fall on this world and from an eternal hell which will be in outer darkness and during which there will be weeping and gnashing of teeth.
Come to Him now - the day is far spent - the night is almost here. The earthquakes and the healthcare legislation and so much more are being given as SIGNS of His very very soon return for His Own!!!
YOU can be among those who are caught up into the safety of Jesus’ presence BEFORE the terrible times described throughout the Bible but especially in the book of Revelation, Just as Noah and his family and the selected animals were in the protection of the Ark, safe from the swelling floods that wiped out all of the ancient earth’s living things - BECAUSE Noah did what God said to do - so also will you and all be SAFE with Jesus during the time about to fall on the earth - long predicted by all the prophets and by Jesus Himself as well as by the rezt of the New Testanment - every single book there. Jesus said there would also be signs in the sky at the time of His return. Yesterday, the sky was so full of these “signs” that it was totally awesome. I took some pictures and will have to see if I can get them uploaded and if so will link others to these today on FR. Very difficult to describe in words what could be seen by anyone in the area where I am located(Cary, NC).
I am sure others called, reported these unusual, awesome looking clouds that were in the sky over Cary yesterday. (and I would guess over other places throughout the world).
Jesus Christ is speaking to the world through His clouds!
He is speaking to the world through the earthquakes and the snow and the floods and through every other possible “event” in order to save every possible human being NOW!
Please HEAR Him now and take the action which will save your life, both NOW and for all eternity!

Felt it a little in Burbank foothills - light rolling for a few seconds, chandelier swaying a bit — nothing else at all. Figured it was a tiny quake or as you say, much larger somewhere else.
I barely go on FR yesterday and will be out of town this week. I heard about this late in the evening. No FR for me this week.
My friends used to laugh at me when I wouldn't park in any parking garage structure. Nor would I stop under an overpass for a stoplight.
I miss the ocean and the weather and my friends/family but definitely not these dang earthquakes.

If this was indeed a supershear event, it occurred in the best area possible. The main force of such would have been expended in the deserts of northern mexico. Plus side scientists have been drooling to study such an event, if this is one.
