How often do they do that —change both the intensity number and the depth measurement?
(Not counting the other day when USGS announced an 8 and quickly changed it to a 3. I think they all smoke pot at that outfit.)

I’m just north of San Diego. No big issues here. I went through the Northridge quake. When you’re near the center, it’s like a giant is shaking you. As you move away from there, it’s more of a rolling motion. Rolling’s what we got here. Maybe some stuff off of shelves and cracked plaster, that’s about it.

(having been through the 1971 and 1994 quakes in Southern California). (Im now living in Southeast Florida and we dont have earthquakes here. Yet.) I was living in Rosemead in 71. Scariest quake I ever felt and I'm a native of California. I was in Northern CA for the 94 quake, so didn't feel it. I lived in AZ for the last ten years and have just come back to CA. I'm beginning to wonder if that was a big mistake.

Pigg got her nickname because she's, well........a PIG. No food (except carrots) is off limits to her palate. This is a dog who will eat
sauerkraut (especially if it was rinsed, then mixed with a generous amount of brown sugar, and baked with a juicy pork loin). She is a self-propelled Bottomless Pit, and doesn't resemble her brother Nigel at all anymore (they were twins). The refrigerator is the altar to the god she worships. Nigel (AKA 'Short Leggs') is built like Billy Barty from bow to stern - extra-stubby and bow-legged. He's all black, except for a fawn-colored patch directly around his dung chute, which my mother has gotten quite a bit of amusement out of over the years. She said that it looks like he's wearing long johns, but his flap is open in back. LOL I think I transmitted the essentials on Scrat. LOL

Felt it in Tucson, though that was only because I was up on the roof appling some roof coating - didn’t know what it was until I finished, showered and turned on the news.

You are not graceful and you don’t know what you’re talking about. You picked a bad time to take your grouchiness out on those of us who have experienced this, know what happened in our homes and simply stated it. Who said anything about “up and down?” You are just one of those fight-pickers, no matter the occasion.
What a miserable person you must be to feel you must pick on us. Find something else to do.

I called my brother in Temecula to wish him a Happy Resurrection Day, and he told me of the earthquake. I had no idea, so I zipped over here.
He said they definitely felt it there. Wow.
Prayers for those affected.

Initial earthquake locations and magnitudes by the USGS are COMPLETELY automatic - done by a computer. It usually works pretty well, but there are “hiccups” at times.
Within half an hour or so, you’ll see a change for most large quakes with the words “This quake has been reviewed by a seismologist.”
The larger the quake the more you’ll see the magnitude revised. It’s normal for revisions to happen multiple times.
For really large quakes you’ll see arguments over the magnitude of the quake go on for months.
