I have a theory that the cycle of ice ages are tied to a cooler sun, elliptical earth and sunspot activity. They seem to cycle every 100K which matches the (spelling) Michlovich Cycles. So if we left one 10K ago that started 40K ago, we can rest tonight that we are safe from an ice age less a mini ice age for another 50K. The present cycle favors the 1700 to 1711.5 cycle. We are in the 3rd year hitting about the same mark. The peak will hit about 2013 at 60 sunspot mean.
