VAN SUSTEREN: Governor Palin, if you were vice president today, what would you be telling a President McCain about what to do about immigration, if anything?
PALIN: I support his position on immigration. It all comes down to securing the border. And he who has actually proposed some solutions, the Obama administration does not want to listen to Senator McCain or any other Republican, and that, of course, leads to a greater problem that we have in Washington, D.C. And it's that lack of the new administration's ability and enthusiasm for listening to those on the other side of the aisle who have some good solutions that they want considered.

I guess a lot of us voted for the Republicans that “could win” over the last 10 years, and here we sit with a Marxist in the WH, national healthcare has arrived, and we have a national debt that is going to grind us to dust. I don’t have much of a problem with Palin, but I’m not going to let the NYT or the Republican establishment pick my candidate again. BTW the term “truther pig” is very persuasive and really wins people over to your point of view.
Okay, I will.
The problem here is Palin has made conlficting statements so whether you are pro-Palin or a Palin critic you have ammunition to use in the debate. The problem is there really shouldn’t be any debate, Palin should make her positions on immigration known and let the chips fall where the will.
But she clearly hasn’t and doesn’t do that for for probably one of two reasons. First, she doesn’t want to appear like she opposes McCain and that means she continues to carry the McCain water bucket. But that isn’t very commendable because it means she is shoving her own principles to the corner for political reasons and what happened to “principle over politics or party”? IF this is true than Palin has jumped the “rogue” shark, if she ever really was rogueish in the first place which I think is debatable.
Second, she is in line with McCains beliefs and is relutant to make them public because she fears the backlash from her supporters and other conservatives who put the immigration issue first. Again, not very rogueish or courageous but at least it can be ezxcused as politically expedient for her at the moment.
Until Palin comes out and clearly defines her positions and plans on the illegal immigration question many people will assume the worst. For that, her fans here who are desperately trying to defend her ambiguous comments have only her to blame.
So is Palin going rogue or is she going vogue?
Even copied the “Going Vogue” from another poster. LOL.
The more she campaigns for this guy, the more I doubt her.
So you're saying that it's okay to support the liberal over the conservative in a GOP primary? Or is it just okay for Palin (yet not for the rest of us) (i.e., double standards)? Or are you expressing annoyance that someone's daring to call out that the emperor has no clothes?
“So you’re saying that it’s okay to support the liberal over the conservative in a GOP primary? Or is it just okay for Palin (yet not for the rest of us) (i.e., double standards)?”
This should be good ;-)
WOW, Your fire (thread) is still burning. And Bob J is back from another time out #3, ready to jump right in with gasoline in hand.
Bob J, Are you the Freeper with 9 lives? Like a moth to a flame you cant resist.
The premise of my post concerned Palin’s ambiguous comments regarding the immigration issue.
And you accuse me of being dense?
I will say this in parting, I’ve always been consistent on these threads. I like Palin and hope she continues to be a voice for conservatism ala Ann Couter. I do not think she is ready to be president at this time but that can always change in the future. I think it is dangerous to engage in messiah worship of ANY political figure as it leads to a tendancy to excuse words and actions that stray from the central conservative philosophy we all hold dear, and I think we have seen a good example of this very thing with the Alaska size fig leaf her most ardent supporters are covering her with regarding the McCain support.
The second most dangerous action we can engage in when selecting our leaders is to misrepresent, spin or outright fabricate records and history. Palin did some good in the Governor’s chair but there are a lot of warts and mud in her time there and in Wasila.
Closing one’s eyes to facts and truth does not lead to insight, only blindness.
BTW - My intent never was, nor is it now to throw gasoline on any discussion. At times my comments have been satirical and even sarcastic but those were in response to over the top rhetoric, hyperbole and misinformation from my debate opponents.
Only through reasoned analysis and discussion of the truth will we be able to arrive at informed opinions upon which we can act in a reasonable, constitutional and democratic fashion.
Listen, collegeboy (I will say this once):
Palin supported Hoffman against the Republican Scozzafava.
She spoke for McCain out of loyalty.
J.D. is anxiously awaiting her endorsement against the 'Rat in the general election.
Hayworth will support the Republican nominee in his district.
How's that vote for the Truther Chuck Baldwin working out for you, TRAULL?
Welcome back :)
She spoke out for McCain because it's SOP for politicians of their party to support their incumbents. Period.
Please stop putting her on pedestal. You sound like a lib.
Welcome back. Your absence leaves a vaccuum that’s hard, nay impossible, to fill.
An extremely stupid comment.
She ran for the vice-presidency on McCain's ticket. She's loyal to him personally because he chose her.
If you can't see it you're an idiot.
>> If Sarah Palin thinks John McCain has done anything to secure the border....maybe she needs to see if Obama is hiring.
Palin is selling McCain. And she’s doing a good job at the expense of her political career.
