Exciting results against pancreatic cancer
http://www.dailyherald.com ^ | March 2010 | By Dr. Patrick Massey

Every once in a while, a piece of medical research crosses my desk that I feel has the potential to change how medicine is practiced.

Today is one of those days.

A recent medical article revealed that patients with end stage pancreatic cancer and treated with an antioxidant and narcotic-like medication lived longer than expected.

The pancreas is located in the abdomen, behind the stomach. It has multiple functions, including secreting enzymes that help digestion and regulating blood sugar levels by releasing insulin. Unfortunately, cancer can also begin in the pancreas. According to the National Institutes of Health, about 42,000 new cases of pancreatic cancer were diagnosed in 2009. Unfortunately, early stage pancreatic cancer rarely has symptoms and most cases are diagnosed at a late stage. As a result, the five-year survival rate is only 5 to 6 percent.

According to an article in the medical journal Integrative Cancer Therapies, a group of physicians in New Mexico used a powerful antioxidant (alpha-lipoic acid) and a medication used primarily for alcohol and drug dependence (naltrexone). Three patients with end-stage pancreatic cancer were treated intravenously and orally with alpha-lipoic acid and took naltrexone at night.

The patients improved significantly over the course of therapy. All had radiologic proof of the tumors getting smaller. All lived longer than expected.

Since most pancreatic cancers are found in a late stage, traditional medical approaches like surgery, chemotherapy and radiation therapy are less effective.

What is remarkable about the alpha-lipoic acid and naltrexone protocol is that it worked on patients with end-stage cancer. One patient is still alive 61/2 years after he was told that his "-prognosis was hopeless."

In cancer cells, both alpha-lipoic acid and naltrexone suppress a specific cancer cell protein, NF KB. It is one of the proteins that allows cancer cells to grow rapidly.

In the test tube, suppression of NF KB results in cancer cell death. From the clinical results above, it is possible that the combination of alpha-lipoic acid and naltrexone results in cancer cell death.

Of note, suppressing production of NF KB is also a hot area of cancer drug research. A new anti-cancer drug, bortezomib, is showing promise.

Are these clinical results a breakthrough in cancer treatment? It may too early to tell and I must stress that there is a big difference between a positive result with a few patients and a real clinical trial. However, medical breakthroughs often start with a positive result in a few patients.

Overall, there do not seem to be significant side effects and few contraindications for the alpha-lipoic acid and naltrexone therapy.

It is worthy of more research.

The following is excerpted from Cancer Tutor: http://www.cancertutor.com/Other/Pancreatic_Cancer.html

Go to the web site to read more. Alpha lipoic acid (ALA) is a powerful anticancer antioxidant. It should generally be used, along with selenium and silymarin in most cancer treatments. Dr William Kelley cured his own pancreatic cancer with digestive/proteolytic enzymes and diet, including coffee enemas. The ALA, selenium, silymarin & coffee enemas keep the liver detoxed, very important in cancer treatments. The digestive/proteolytic enzymes help reduce tumor size. I am aware of the therapy described in the article, and have heard good things about it.

Pancreatic Cancer and Gallbladder Cancer (from Cancer Tutor)

Pancreatic cancer and gallbladder cancer are two of the most dangerous types of cancer. One problem is that they can spread very quickly and get out of control very quickly.

Another problem with pancreatic cancer is that it is usually diagnosed in the late stages. Thus, it is critical to get started on a treatment as soon as possible, and to attack this type of cancer with a vengeance!!

No matter what “stage” your medical doctor rates you as; in terms of alternative medicine you are a “Stage IV’ cancer patient with either of these types of cancer. This means that you need at least ONE OF THE MOST POTENT alternative cancer treatments!!

Read more at the website noted above. Cancer Tutor is one of the more definitive sources for alternative cancer treatments.

Dr Nicholas Gonzalez, MD is treating late stage cancer patients, including those with pancreatic cancer using his own modified version of Dr Kelley’s (DDS) protocol with much success. His website is http://www.dr-gonzalez.com/index.htm

I was reading an autobiography recently and the author was talking about their illness and the advances in genetic research. The book was printed in the early nineties.

As I read it, I couldn’t help but think about the medical advances that we will lose in the future because of Obamacare. I have a life-long illness that I have to live with. And the research is going to dry up in this country. I won’t be looking to medical advances as much in the future.

I’ll just have to pray more, I guess.

I lost a friend to this, too.

Anyone who knows anyone in this situation has to RUN to get Suzanne Somers’ latest book. It is interviews with doctors who are curing pancreas and other cancers. It’s not really about Suzanne, so if you don’t care for her as an actress, do not worry. It’s about cancer and how traditional oncology is NOT the only thing. I just finished it, and I marked many pages for future research.

These doctors interviewed are AMAZING. The patients are living long, long healthy, happy lives, with either cures or controlled cancer. Diet is ESSENTIAL to fighting and preventing cancer.

EVERYONE should read this book — there is so much to learn that might save someone you love.

The book that I just read, link in my previous post, has a loooong, wonderful interview with Dr. Gonzales in it!!! He talks a lot about Dr. Kelley and why he started following his method, and the success he is having.

There are stage 4 pancreatic cancer survivors in the book, talking about his protocol, and how it’s kept them healthy for a decade or more. FEELING good, not a life filled with chemo and sickness. FEELING GOOD. It’s a must-read, with more research needed.

G-d bless Suzanne Somers for bringing these doctors into the mass public. I didn’t know about them before, and I wish my friend had known, and lived longer.

One of the primary reasons Ubanga and the Democrats pushed so hard for Mengelecare was to try to keep the future cost of entitlement programs for the elderly somewhat under control. You don’t think Ubanga and his ilk want old people to stick around, do you?

A few notes. Alpha Lipoic Acid (ALA) is now a part of standard therapy in Germany for both idiopathic neuropathy (nerve damage in the extremities with indeterminate cause) and to correct diminished vascular (capillary) function in the extremities, of diabetics, who commonly suffer from both problems.

That is, when you are diagnosed as having diabetes in Germany, along with your other drugs, you are prescribed ALA (also Vitamin B-1, which is lost in the excess urination of diabetics, and lack of which causes a host of other problems.)

And ALA is often combined with an amino acid, called Acetyl L-Carnitine (ALC), which is also sold over the counter. ALC has been found to also help with these two diabetic conditions.

On a side note, Silymarin, which is an active ingredient in milk thistle herb, has long been known as “the perfect drug” for the human liver.

It has three functions: first, directly protecting liver cells from damage by toxins; second, it limits uptake of toxins by the liver, so that it does not become stressed; and third, it causes regrowth of any damage to the liver 1/3rd faster than normal.

Silymarin is perhaps the only known substance that might protect the liver from destruction after a person consumes “death cap” mushrooms. Its toxin is so intense that people have had liver transplants after their liver was destroyed, and there is still enough toxin in their blood to destroy their new liver.

So, with medical permission, if you expect to take medicines or other chemicals that might harm your liver, it would be a very good idea to take Silymarin prior to exposure, unless it could prevent proper function of a critical medicine.

If someone you know has cancer, keep them away from sugar! Sugar excels cancer.
