Two years ago, John McCain transformed Sarah Palin overnight from an obscure first-term Alaska governor into a national celebrity when he picked her as his vice presidential running mate.
Now Palin is repaying the favor, putting her prestige on the line in an effort to help the four-term Arizona senator overcome his toughest re-election challenge ever.
The two campaigned together Friday for the first time since they lost the presidential race in 2008.
At the first of two rallies this weekend, Palin pumped up Tea Partiers, invoking the cause of the first Tea Party in 1773.
"Remember it was the Freedom Fighters and those who protested tyranny and big government," she said. "And that's what we're doing today."
"And when you think about that first Tea Party, shoot, some may claim that John was there, at the first Tea Party," she said with a laugh, poking fun at McCain's age. McCain, who is 73, grinned widely beside her.

Palin isn’t even going to run. The problem is that she is using Fox News to promote 100% of McCain’s platform. And to add a further indignity, she has stated on Fox news that McCain is very much a part of the Tea Party.
I know, I heard it. The point is that we all will end up either voting for the GOP candidate or we get Obama again.
I said earlier that the GOP knows that we will vote for whoever is not Obama. So pick your favorite RINO, convince ourselves they are defenders of conservatism if it makes us feel better, go for it.
The real race is who the GOP backs as their candidate. We can sit our here and argue who is the most conservative until we are blue in the face. It won’t matter in the end. I heard that Huckleberry say on Hannity that he wouldn’t repeal the healthcare bill. He would just pull out the bad stuff. well...okay, Huckleberry, how about 2700 pages of tyranny.
Hell of a deal, isn’t it?
Looks like the DNC has taken over FR!
Where is Jim Robinson? on the road perhaps?
Why the mods are allowing these anti-freepers to attack the best candidate that the republican party has ever had at its disposal is troubling.
These truly are the enemies of freedom.
I’ll take that bet. I’ll bet she does run.
...and no she is not endorsing McCain’s platform. In the video above she endorsed cutting spending, being against Obamacare...etc. hardly anything against conservatism.
Gentlemens bet. I’ll be happy to let you rub my nose in it if she does.
Likewise.
If Palin neither seeks nor wins the nomination, (which, despite her egregious antics with McCain, I hope she does), those who collectively are known as the Palin Fringe will be found muttering incoherently to themselves and walking into walls.
I hope she runs too. I hope she gets her chance to stand with the other candidates, campaign and debate them.
As for me, In my state, other states too, the candidate is always chosen before we have our primary in May. I will get no choice as to who runs against the democrat.
Sad but true.
About the only thing likely to cause her to do that would be if she became convinced that someone else was a superior candidate.
Certainly none of the names mentioned on this thread could possibly fill that bill; she is demonstrably superior to all of them in every way. Do you see anyone that in your wildest dreams could measure up to that?
I am sure there are some out there. It is too early to debate when we don’t really know who we are debating about.
Just a fact.
We know who’s out there, and of all who are, Palin is so far beyond them that it would be facetious to consider them.
That is a pipe dream, but if it floats your boat, go on ahead.
What will you do if she decides not to enter the race?
Vote for Obama? Or...just not vote at all?
The GOP doesn’t work like that. Nobody is coming in in a vacuum. The establishment candidate was Romney. (that may change after ObamaCare)
The conservative candidates will be Palin and Huckabee. Romney would have been the benefit of conservatives dividing the vote as usual...Obamacare changes all of that.
If the establishment chooses Romney they are just born losers and inept since he has no credibility in attacking Obama on HealthCare now, the primary issue.
Also rans: Pawlenty and a few others
1 %rs Paul, a few House guys and maybe a Senator.
So you are at the top of the GOP, right?
We needen’t bother with primaries, right?
LOL are you a conspiracy theory?
I’m a rank and file conservative in the GOP, like most on FR.
What I explained is just the way it works in the GOP.
Since when has there been time outs on Free Republic threads?
And you and your snotty little 3rd Party pals have not been playing by Marquess of Queensbury rules, so why should we? Heck, most of the attacks against Palin coming from your clique take place either in the wee hours of the morning or late at night when we're all offline, so your whining is disingenuous in the extreme, so much so that it's laughable.
It's amazing how you can all dish it out, but when we throw it right back at you, you squeal like stuck pigs, just like liberals. So you keep your faux outrage because nobody cares.
You are utterly repugnant.
Why thank you very much.
Spoken like a true weasel...
