"The American people don't want a government takeover of health care. The policy, the backroom deals and the arrogance have angered millions.
But that is no excuse for bigotry, threats or acts of vandalism and I condemn such things in the strongest possible terms. People who engage in such acts undermine our cause and should be prosecuted to the fullest extent of the law.
But I also rise to condemn the efforts to smear millions of law abiding Americans who oppose ObamaCare by associating them and their principled opposition with these criminal acts.
The American people have every right to oppose this government takeover of health care without being lumped in with bigots and vandals by liberals in Congress and in the mainstream press.
I say to my countrymen: End the threats. End the vandalism. And lets also end the smears of law-abiding citizens exercising their first amendment right to speech and peaceable assembly. "

Dear Congressman Pence,
“facebook”?
Stop hiding online. Step out and say it in the steps of the US Capitol
He is not hiding. The top-of-the-hour radio news just played a (short) clip of Congressman Pence's remarks. I believe he was speaking in the House of Representatives.
That said, I would bet that more people will read Pence's statement on Facebook than will ever see or hear it anywhere else.
Pence is always on the steps...pay attention.
Pence,
You reacted just like the Saul Alinsky Socialists wanted you to.
Jesus, please give our leadership some brains and balls.
The facebook page takes me to “locks of love”?
nice. Stay on the offense.
I don’t agree with the vandals and threats of violence either, both aren’t strong enough to get the job done.
Yes. The FB post is taken from a Pence speech made on the floor of the House, so it’s in the Congressional Record.

With all due respect to the Congressman, I cannot condemn the actions of those who are fighting back.
We tried politeness. 219 Congress-jerks ignored us. So we will have to communicate a little louder this time.
And instead of saying “End the racism and end the smears”, say “End the smears and end the racism”. The smears are louder and true. The racism is crapola.
LOL!

I think it’s a big assumption that “right wingers” are doing these things. He should have questioned the premise before responding. Why not question the questioner?
They always say they don’t condone what our side supposedly did before they get into what the other side REALLY did. That’s the most cowardly way of defending your position that I can think of.
I don’t hear Sheila Jackson Lee saying “We don’t need to be calling these people names but they don’t need to ask me how tight my braids are either.” She says “You people are racists!” with no proof whatsoever.
Mike Pence is in good company—Rush is talking about this very subject right now. Says Eric Cantor’s office was SHOT at last night! Bullets vs. Bricks—who’s the vandals, eh??
