Jordan King Says Israel Is Playing With Fire

AFP - Israel is "playing with fire" in expanding Jewish settlements in annexed Arab east Jerusalem and attempting to alter the Holy City's indentity, Jordan's King Abdullah II said on Thursday.

"We have warned repeatedly that Israel is playing with fire, and Jordan rejects and condemns all measures aimed at changing the identity of Jerusalem and the displacement of its Christian and Muslim Arab population," the king said in an interview with Jordanian journalists.

"East Jerusalem must be the capital of an independent Palestinian state which should be established as soon as possible.

"Jerusalem belongs to the Palestinian territories occupied by Israel in 1967 and, like the other occupied territories, it is subject to unilateral Israel actions that are illegal and illegitimate and will lead to further conflict," the king added.

It is his early comments that stated he is not that concerned with peace that concerned me. I know that Jordan was having finacial difficulties, but it rubbed me the wrong way. I am not saying that Jordan will attack Israel and he probably needs to throw his radicals a bone from time to time, but today he gets no support from me.

Hmmm, I’m thinking that if Palestinians wanted peace, as efficient a society and tolerant as Israelis are toward those who want to kill them, I’d think that the Palestinians— in the interest of peace, wouldn’t mind expansion. It should not be about land, Israelis have a right to sovereignty of their ancestral land, Palestinians can live side by side and also coexist with Israel if they get rid of their hatred.

Its terrible and depressing to see former allies of Israel turning against her so coldly- America, Jordan, Turkey- but we know that what God said will happen will indeed occur and we know that all of this is proof positive that the return of our Savior is at the door!

I have pointed out this many times saying that if the USA gives all it's land back that was taken in war then Israel would begin to talk about Jerusalem. The USA could start with the Mexican American war.

Keep in mind the current king of Jordan is not the one who fought the PLO;that was his father ,who was way more Western in view.Also at that time the Shah and people of Iran were not under the scourge of Islamic barbarism.

Israel is accustomed to playing with fire. They have been doing that successfully since 1847.

Israel is a sovereign state. They will continue to build as they should , in and around Jerusalem. The subject building is not even ON the West bank.Few know that.

Obama tries to derogate Israeli sovereignty using political correctness. Obama is the one playing with fire. In my mind I hope the Mossad pays Obama a visit.Israel is the leader of the Free Western world, Obama has vacated that seat usually occupied by the USA.

I have learned that Israel does not abide by the terms of the "Nuclear Proliferation Treaty". It would seem to me that this would be good reason for other countries in the Mideast to be very wary of Israeli intentions.

I am currently reading “As America Has Done to Israel” by John McTernan. (It’s a great book and I recommend it as well as the DVD of the same name, both available at his Website.) McTernan quotes from Obadiah.

It is unclear what the “Divine Response” will be, but “Divine Response” is surely warranted.

I’m pretty sure you are correct Genoa.

The mother of King Abdullah II was born Antoinette Avril Gardiner in Chelmondiston, near Ipswich, Suffolk, England, on 25 April 1941.

She converted to Islam and was named (Princess) Muna al-Hussein after she married King Hussein of Jordan (King Abdullah II’s father).
