Holy mackerel, that’s a pretty damned fancy room in the “barracks.” Looks like a luxury hotel to me. When I was an enlisted man, we slept in bunks with a footlocker at the bottom.
Also, when I was in the army, the whole purpose of basic training was to toughen you up but also to make you drop your old background and conform to the new one with your squad mates. No prayer rug on the floor, no special treatment, no special privileges. You eat what you’re fed or go hungry.

The only question is whether or not the military actually needs muslims in its ranks. They need translators and people who understand the enemy’s religion but beyond that...
Also, it’s completely unfair to ask the survivors of Fort Hood to respect muslims. Islam has never brought anything but death and misery into the world and they experienced it first hand.
There is something more than a little ironic in the military experiencing a "lock down" because of a shooting.
Seem to me that if there were as many crimes against humanity by Christians against non-Christians as there are by Muslims against non-Muslims, just believing in Jesus Christ would be a hate crime.

You forgot the barf alert on this article. I didn’t finish it but I did wonder about all that “harassment” Nidal Hassan faced, I hadn’t heard of any before now, and they didn’t describe any in this piece. In fact, I found most of what this man is quoted as saying as not believable.
