The only question is whether or not the military actually needs muslims in its ranks. They need translators and people who understand the enemy’s religion but beyond that...

Does the military need Muslims in its ranks?

We need AMERICANS in our ranks. And that ain't going to happen with Muslims...

BTW - I have been googling about the Japanese Americans during WW2. Some highlights (for those as blissfully ignorant as me)

When the government circulated a questionnaire seeking army volunteers from among the internees, 6% of military-aged male respondents volunteered to serve in the U.S. Armed Forces.[citation needed] Most of those who refused, however, tempered that refusal with statements of willingness to fight if they were restored their rights as American citizens. 20,000 Japanese American men and many Japanese American women served in the U.S. Army during World War II.

The 442nd Infantry, formerly the 442nd Regimental Combat Team of the United States Army, was an Asian American unit composed of mostly Japanese Americans who fought in Europe during World War II. [1] The families of many of its soldiers were subject to internment. The 442nd was a self-sufficient fighting force, and fought with uncommon distinction in Italy, southern France, and Germany. The unit became the most highly decorated regiment in the history of the United States Armed Forces, including 21 Medal of Honor recipients.

All Muslim units in the Armed Forces - an idea whose time has come - AGAIN?

I don't know - hard to say. After all that's gone on, it's hard for me to trust them - period.

Boo Hoo, Boo Hoo. Just emotive drivel. What is the point of this article? Oh yeah we should allow our nation to be destroyed because Habib is just a great guy.

In my view, the point of this article by the Moonbat MSM is to play the guilt card and make us feel sorry for the poor victim Muslim.

Not happening.

The Nisei were quite valiant and eager to prove themselves American.

It’s called “Al Taqiyaa” and using the non-believers own laws against them.

Read up. You’ll never be able to completely trust one of them again.

Thanks — I will look it up — but as far as never again trusting them, I’m already there!

Seem to me that if there were as many crimes against humanity by Christians against non-Christians as there are by Muslims against non-Muslims, just believing in Jesus Christ would be a hate crime.

“I have to profess ignorance as to whether German Americans or Japanese Americans served during WW2. Hmmm. Now I have to go look it up.”

Yes, Nisei (second generation, native born Americans of Japanese descent) DID fight in WWII and they DID fight in the Pacific. They fought bravely and were highly decorated. At least one of them was awarded the Medal of Honor posthumously: “the 442nd Regimental Combat Team became one of the most decorated units in United States military history. Among the many awards and decorations received by the men of the 442 RCT are 52 Distinguished Service Crosses, 560 Silver Star Medals, over 4,000 Bronze Stars, 9,486 Purple Heart Medals, and 7 Presidential Unit Citations.

In 1945, American-born Sadao Munemori posthumously received the Medal of Honor for his service “above and beyond the call of duty.” His mother, Nawa Munemori, received word of her son’s death while living behind barbed wire in Manzanar concentration camp.”

I think there are major cultural differences between those Nisei and today’s Muslims in our military, including religion and “cultural orientation”. The Nisei saw themselves as Americans first. They did not maintain a cultural loyalty to the traditional worship of the Japanese Emperor which was a foundation of the Japanese military. [If the Emperor hadn’t surrendered, the japanese military would have fought to the last man.] I don’t see that identification as Americans first among Muslims.

When asked about what he thought of the Fort Hood incident, Klawoon said he did not sympathize with Nadal Hasan. “What he did was heinous, wrong, unforgivable,” he says, pausing. “But when I read about the discrimination he experienced, I have to say, I can believe it. It doesn’t excuse what he did, but it explains maybe a tiny part of it...”

says it all for me

I'm certain that Americans of Japanese extraction served during WWII.There are at least a couple of documentaries on that subject that I've seen. What I saw suggested that they served bravely and admirably.I *think* I recall that they were deliberately assigned to Europe rather than the Pacific but I can't swear to that.

Thank you. One of the things I love about FR is learning. It truly is a great body of knowledge and spurs me to look up things to gain more knowledge myself (see post 21)

The problem is: for a Muslim being AN AMERICAN always takes a backseat to being a Muslim and that is why Islam is incompatible with the American ideal and spirit.

It’s never going to work... <<

bingo!...WE HAVE A WINNER!........

They have to understand that to come into the “fold”

Yep. I cannot trust Muslims, and I never will. It’s not hatred;it’s a genuine fear based on reality.

You have a very good point, ARFAR regarding ‘vulgar displays of animosity’ and I join you in your suspicion of the motives of the source!

But are they really unjustified? History and recent events say otherwise.

Unfortunately the individual makes up the collective and until the individual Muslim-American (note the Muslim always come first) takes a stand and loudly speaks out, condemning the actions of the collective - i.e. the terrorist acts condoned and sanctioned by Islam, they will forever be subject to these types of verbal attacks.

You don’t see American citizens forming terror cells and attacking Mecca...

As an Army test examiner in military career testing, I have worked with soldiers of a Middle Eastern background on their language testing. I didn’t ask about their religion. I found them generally pleasant, respectful and a pleasure to work with. But that was on a strictly professional level. That said, I have to agree that anything which disrupts unit morale and cohesion needs to be addressed.

No retaliation in that respect has occured in this country.

Maybe somebody got their head scarf pulled or rolled a pig's head into their mosque.

Big whoop. What's that compared to car, plane and bus bombs, genital mutilation and any number of things we could point to.

As I said previously, you don't see American citizens forming terror cells and blowing up things in Mecca.

That’s quite true. One of WWIIs most highly decorated units was an all-Japanese unit, American citizens of Japanese descent. They were deadly and heroes all in the Italian front.

I don't know the precise percentages, but you are certainly way off in your comments about the lack of courageous, moderate Muslims:

Muslims Against Sharia

My initial post made 3 points:
1) The US military was segregated in WWII, where the Japanese were first interred, then allowed to fight, but only in their own units.
2) The above might not be a bad idea today, but due to political correctness, it is not likely.
3) Blind prejudice against Mulsims as a group violates common decency and is not patriotic, meaning it does not enhance our military efforts in the ME.

If the US Military says they need Mulsims, I am inclined to believe them, and disbelieve those who say none of them can be trusted.

Muslims as a group ARE vermin.

Whether Jihadists and their supporters represent 1% or 99% of all Muslims, such a blanket statement of contempt is unjustified by the facts, juvenile in the extreme, and only degrade this thread or any rational discussion of the Moslem problem. If it were true, we should immediately withdraw from Iraq, because the representative government we have helped nurture there is run almost exclusively by MUSLIMS! Something to think about, if that is not too much to expect of you.

Maybe you enjoy seeing innocent soldiers murdered by muslims in your back yard.

No, and I believe this horrendous crime could have been avoided if it were not for PC policies in the military. As I stated before, it might not be a bad idea to segregate Muslim soldiers. I would even suggest banning them for the interim altogether, except that the US military states that they need them. Whom shall I believe on that point, you or our military leaders?
