Bill McCollum On Greta "We Believe The Court Would Knock Down The Whole Bill"
Fox News ^ | 3-24-10 | self

Posted on 03/23/2010 10:03:48 PM PDT by sheikdetailfeather

I just saw Fla. AG Bill McCollum on Greta tonight. I taped it and then transcribed it roughly: Greta: "If the court were to agree that the mandate were unconstitutional, would it knock out the entire health care bill or just that one particular provision being tossed out?" McCollum: "WELL, WE THINK THAT IS THE CORE OF THE WHOLE BILL AND I BELIEVE THAT IT WOULD KNOCK OUT THE WHOLE BILL, BUT THE REALITY IS, IT IS A HOUSE OF CARDS, BECAUSE, IT IS ALL PREDICATED ON THE ASSUMPTION THAT YOU REQUIRE PEOPLE TO BE INSURED; AND IF YOU CAN'T REQUIRE PEOPLE TO BE INSURED, THEN THE METHODOLOGY OF TRYING TO SOLVE THE HEALTHCARE PROBLEM WOULD FAIL. AT LEAST THIS METHODOLOGY." He said the states are being told to provide additional services, set up ins. exchanges, etc., and the Federal govt. has no authority to do so. He said this is unprecedented. Also said 2-3 more DEMOCRAT AG's ARE GOING TO PROBABLY JOIN THE SUIT AS WELL AS MORE AG's. He said the lawsuit procedure could take anywhere from a few months to two yrs. and does not happen quickly and whoever loses would no doubt appeal.

"Someone please tell me I’m wrong on all counts, and why. "

I won't tell you that you're wrong on all counts- but there may be a ray of hope if and when elections are allowed this November, and adults reacquire the House, and maybe even the Senate. Then all of this Obama Deathcare Plan can be de-funded. If, as I halfway expect elections are cancelled, then we win. Revolution begins.

No its the exact opposite.

People who have no insurance will pay a 750 IRS Fine or prove they have insurance which will start at 5900 per year.
Most of this crowd will be qualify under Medicaid and be unable to find a doctor or hospital to treat them.

People will pay the IRS fine.

its a ponzie scam and a huge Tax increase for all.
your medicare withhold will double and massive tax hits on capital gains and investments.

it will set off another recession since employers will want a staff under 40 people since then you are exempt.

I’m not a big fan of revolution. I don’t want anyone to get hurt; I just want everyone to get sane.

As for myself, I plan to stay drunk for the next year or two.

...." expect many businesses will stop offering health insurance"....

I worked for SBC for 30 years and retired. I have had 2 letters from a company called Allsup offering to get me on SS disability. I have never said anything to SBC or even heard of this company. They explained that SBC had HIRED THEM to help me get my disability and they were 90+% successful. Of course I have one of those "Cadillac" plans, so why would I want Medicare?

I didn't take them up, even though my back is crap, my heart is damaged and I've had more than one tell me I'm crazy.

I believe ATT( the new name) will drop us, or make us pay for coverage, or at the very least I will have to pay tax on my bennies. I wasn't planning on that cost when I retired. CAT just said the plan will cost them $100 million. There will be job losses, retiree cuts, or something. No one should think they will just absorb $100 mill.

I’d like to explore that in relation to abortion. Amish are accommodated because they have a long history of conscientious objection to various things. I think the act requires a fifty year history, so you can’t just invent your own religion.

However, because most traditional Christians have profound and well documented objections on religious grounds to murder from time immemorial, and because these Christians hold a sincere conviction that abortion is murder, therefore a conscientious objection based on the built-in taxpayer funded abortion just might pass muster. I will certainly try something like that if we go down the road that far. And being an attorney, I can charge myself whatever I like for legal services.

Requires most individuals to obtain acceptable health insurance coverage or pay a penalty of:

$95 for 2014
$325 for 2015
$695 for 2016 or up to 2.5 percent of income in 2016 up
to a cap of the national average bronze plan premium

Families will pay half the amount for children, up to a cap of up to a cap of $2,250 per family.

After 2016, dollar amounts are indexed.

If affordable coverage is not available to an individual, they will not be penalized.

Well someone will always pay of course. But it was my understanding everyone must purchase....so there won’t be free rides so to speak as there are now.

The middle class is going to pay, and pay dearly - the poor will be subsidized, while the wealthy will buy their way out through lobbying.

To: ncalburt

so if employers with less than 40 employees won’t be offering insurance then those people will go onto some sort of alternative government plan?

Well obamas wife said her husband would shake america out of their comfort zone when he was running....and that bo won’t allow the status quo....and so it is.
