I just don’t know.
I’ve seen comments and news both ways.
She’s in for a very contested election.

LaRaza is on board now. They’re against the Senate bill but confident that Reconciliation will put that to rest, thus Guetierrez (sp?) changing to Yes.

Sanchez voted “yes” last time. She faces a well-funded GOP challenger, Van Tran, in the 2010 election. Although Obama carried her district by 60%, Schwarzenegger won it in 2006 as did Bush in 2004.

It has a growing Vietnamese community, which Tran hopes to capitalize on. “They come out and vote in large numbers, and they’re 2-to-1 Republican,” he told the Associated Press.

This makes Nancy Pelosi’s job considerably harder. Sanchez’s jump could be a sign that there are members who have been quiet about their positions and hoping they’d never have to take the vote.

But with the fear of tough elections ahead looming large, more could follow her lead. I know there’s a tendency to look at these votes as carved in stone once members commit publicly, but I fully remember what happened to Ciro Rodriguez during the Cap and Trade vote:

Administration Actuary Can’t Analyze Health Bill Before Final Vote

###

Even the Administration’s Chief Actuary at HHS cannot provide cost analysis of latest Democrat health spending bill before the vote

Chief Actuary: ‘I regret that my staff and I will not be able to prepare our analysis within this very tight time frame, due to the complexity of the legislation.’

WASHINGTON, DC – The Obama administration’s chief actuary at the Centers for Medicare and Medicaid Services (CMS) notified Republican leaders Saturday that the “very tight time frame” and “complexity” of the Democrats’ health spending bill would prevent them from fully analyzing the costs and efficacy of the bill before the House voted on the legislation.

The letter was in response to a request from House and Senate Republicans.

The Chief Actuary, Richard S. Foster, wrote: “In your letter, you requested that we provide the updated actuarial estimates in time for your review prior to the expected House debate and vote on this legislation on March 21,2010.

I regret that my staff and I will not be able to prepare our analysis within this very tight time frame, due to the complexity of the legislation.”

Foster and his staff analyzed the Senate-passed bill and determined that it bent the cost curve up, estimating in a January 8 report that national health expenditures would increase by an estimated total of $222 billion, and that the additional demand for health services “could be difficult to meet” and “could lead to price increases, cost-shifting, and/or changes in providers’ willingness to treat patients with low-reimbursement health coverage.” Foster, in his letter today, expects the new health spending bill to be “generally similar.”

House Republican Leader John Boehner said:

“The House of Representatives should not vote blindly on an issue that is so important to every American. We deserve to have all the facts about how much this bill raise health care costs before we vote. The decision to press ahead and jam this bill down the throats of the American people is just one more example of arrogance and irresponsibility from Washington Democrats.”

Senate Republican Leader Mitch McConnell said: “Americans deserve to have a full analysis of this bill, but won’t because of the mad dash forced by the Democrat leaders in the House.

We now know that even the Obama administration’s chief actuary predicts more government spending, more price increases for consumers and less care for low-income patients. This debate was supposed about lowering costs for Americans not making things worse.”

Van Tran is one of my favorites and he’s going to win.

Loretta is hiding out in Florida and tomorrow is her come to Jesus day.

BTW, the Vietnamese in the area are Catholic.

Jane Hamsher .. dyed-in-the-wool-vehement-lib .. but she’s been keeping very close track of the vote counts.

We were closely following her rapid-fire reports from the courtroom during Scooter Libby’s trial.

From what I have read here on FR, illegals get to buy insurance, if they choose, but are not subject to fines and imprisonment if they don’t while American citizens are liable.

Seems to me La Raza is for this bill and a majority of Hispanic lawmakers are involved with the Proggesive/Socialist agendas in Congress.

Tomorrow, the illegals are supposed to march on DC FOR this bill.

Should be interesting, if anyone covers this event.

Just found on The Hill Whip Count as of 11:37 p.m.:

"Michael Arcuri (N.Y.) (Y) He is now a firm no. His statement reads, "And after several meetings and conversations with the president, Speaker of the House, administration officials and colleagues, I am not convinced enough changes can be made to the Senate health care bill to meet the needs of the people in my district."

To bad the same can't be said of my congressman John Hall in NY who was supposedly reading the bill yesterday and had not yet decided. His assistant almost sounded convincing.
