Pro-Choice Caucus livid at talk of deal with Stupak on abortion (Pass the Popcorn)

Leaders of the Pro-Choice Caucus, some 30 minutes after storming into Pelosi’s office, renewed that threat.

“This concurrent resolution which Congressman Stupak and several others have filed, from the position of the people who signed my letter back in November, is a non-starter,” said Rep. Diana DeGette (D-Colo.), a Pro-Choice Caucus co-chairwoman. “We compromised to the concept 'no federal funding for abortion,' which is current law -- we don't like that. And so if Mr. Stupak and a few members, along with the Republicans, decide to use this to take healthcare down, then that loss on healthcare coverage is going to be on their hands.”

Stupak is supposedly having a press conference Saturday morning. If Pelosi has done what she did before — put the Stupak Amendment in at th last minute to put the bill over the top — we need to lobby the “Pro-Choiice” Caucus and play off their anger.

Yes. “Divide and Conquer”! Worked well for the Brits in history. Could work here. I pray it will.

Here is Greta’s interview with Stupak tonight on the enrollment correction bill. Judge for yourself if it looks like Stupak is going to compromise on this issue.

If she puts the Stupak amendment back in, it changes the bill and, if passed, the bill goes back to the Senate, where the Stupak amendment will again be stripped and sent back to the House. But in the meantime, a time lapse of a few weeks may have occurred, taking the wind out of the sails.

I think they know it’s do or die now and that this bill will have to be passed without the Stupak amendment right now or it never will be.

My analysis is the pro-abortion interests MUST HAVE federal funding NOW because:

1. The republicans will gain seats in November and probably control. This removes any prospect of amending the healthcare law later to include abortion funding. There will be no amendment after passage of the current healthcare until November because of the Stupak democrats.

2. The risk of having a federal court order abortion funding using 14th amendment arguments is in the certainty that such an order would be appealed to the Supreme Court whose justices recently stated they were inclined to review Roe vs. Wade.

Note that Obama suspended all intentions of good will in his direct attack on the Supreme Court justices in his SOTU. Note that vicious rumors were started that Justice Roberts would be stepping down due to health reasons. These are threats to the Supremes who may receive the appeal to abortion funding and then use it to revisit Roe.

If it’s this enrollment correction, then supposedly only 51 votes needed to make this “technical” correction. But it’s not a technical correction and I don’t even think they have 51 votes in the senate. It fails so back it goes to the house again. Keep these sidecars changing and then it’s ping-pong between Senate and House.

I hope when these “pro-deathers” breath their last, the faces of all those millions upon millions of precious aborted Babies pass before them.

Stupak knows these zealots of death won’t hold to any pro-life agenda, why would he cut a deal with them? I’m not holding my breath on this guy.

I want to do whatever we can to make sure it foes down on this vote. If that means we have to stoke the anger of sleazy babykillers like Dina DeGette, then that’s what we have to do. Killing the bill NOW — once and for all — is the most important thing.

It has to go back to th Senate anyway. They’re voting on the package of amendmets, remember? They are “deeming” the Senate bill passed. (Otherwise, they couldn’t vote on reconciliation.)

Yes, the House reconciliation bill they are voting on goes to the Senate.

But the Christmas Eve Senate bill gets deemed passed right now, and goes immediately to Zero for signing into law.

Agree. This “deeming” b.s. sounds a lot like a lying four year old trying to manipulate his way into eating cake for lunch.

THey’ll reply it’s been done in the past by Republicans as well as democrats.

The proper response is yes, for overwhelmingly popular issues, and for resolutions, not landmark legislation that changes the nature of the country. Not for legislation the American people overwhelming oppose. Not for legislation or resolutions that didn’t enjoy broad support of both republicans and democrats.

Like no one saw this coming? Once a rat always a rat! This is exactly like the idiots who voted for this socialist in the White house, they did not know he was a “black nationalist socialist” who has a deep hatred for what American and is now working hard to get even through legislation!

It is time for America to pull it head out of its a$$ and wake up to what is really going on right in front of its face! Socialism by what ever means necessary! Rep. Bart Stupid will be voting for this social take over of our health care in America, don't be fooled! Anyone who believes that the only thing wrong with the government taking over 1/6 of the American economy is that it will fund abortions with American tax dollars, turning a blind eye to all of the bribes, payoffs, and other tax funded extortion, has something decidedly wrong with them.

[Art.] “We compromised to the concept 'no federal funding for abortion,' which is current law -- we don't like that......"

Check the extremism of their position. They won't be satisfied until they put a gun to the Pope's head and make him perform an abortion himself on the spot.

Talk about forcing Christians to burn incense on heathen altars .....

Did someone say, "tophet"?

According to another source, Stupak wants assurances that the pro-life amendment will pass the Senate, i.e. that the pro-life fix is a guarantee.

They'll compromise with Stupak by lying to him and screwing him behind closed doors.

He needs to recognize that and just man up.
