At the last minute the abortion language will be stripped and Stupak will cave. This is their ace in the hole.

I disagree. I don’t think Pelosi will dare strip out that abortion language. Their pro-abortion constituency is too important. They are also too arrogant now to compromise. The only way they will get the Stupak vote is by sure bribery and extortion.

They can’t exactly strip the abortion language but it seems they’re wanting a “promise” from the Senate.

Won’t be worth squat, as we all know.

if any words change on abortion the senate bill has to go back to senate. THe abortion language has to change on 2nd bill right? and then the people that have turned are basically relying on the Senate Dems. Do I have this right?

Im so pissed I cant stand it. I think its over

The whole point is to get something, anything passed at this point. They will take the hit. As long as its passed they can come back and add anything, promise anything.

Abortion is the holy grail for the Democrat Party. They will not compromise on this issue.

Strip the language, take the hit and play for time as it goes back to be voted on again. When it comes back, they’ve got the votes to pass the thing.

Ellsworth represents SW Indiana including Evansville. What I remember living there for 4 1/2 years when doing my undergrad degree, the area is very conservative. More than likely, he just signed his paperwork to be voted out this November. The area is big on the Right to Life.

I pray you are right. I want this to be over with but I don’t think their arrogance will trump their lust to get something passed.

If it goes back to the Senate, it is dead, unless “Not Ted” votes with the Dims.

Ellsworth is the Cemocratic candidate for Bayh’s Senate seat. I think he just lost the election, though he may not know it yet.

I am in that bastard’s district.
Cancer is to good for him. He only won 4 years ago because his opponent is an incompetent rino.

I will give his opponent a contribution this fall.
