Two U.S. senators met with President Obama on Thursday to push for a national ID card with biometric information such as a fingerprint, hand scan, or iris scan that all employers would be required to verify.
In an opinion article published in Friday's edition of the Washington Post, Chuck Schumer (D-N.Y.) and Lindsey Graham (R-S.C.) say the new identification cards will "ensure that illegal workers cannot get jobs" and "dramatically decrease illegal immigration."
It comes just two days before a rally in Washington, D.C. sponsored by groups including the AFL-CIO, Farmworker Justice, and the National Council of La Raza that also calls for amnesty.

Why don’t we tattoo 666 on the foreheads of each citizen. That would cut down on the paper work when hiring someone.

“Biometric Date” is science-speak, and it means they are talking about fingerprinting every single American citizen and putting a digital scan of your prints on the back of the card, along with blood type and any other data they care to program it for. The military has been playing with this kind of thing for years; there was even talk of keeping a paperless medical record on a service member’s ID card at one time.
It is beyond any understanding how two (an many more) US Senators can possibly propose something like this that is so obviously un-Constitutional on it’s face. We have come to a point in this Country where we are no longer surprized at such a blatant intrusion into personal privacy. At one time even the suggestion of such an idea would have been shouted down from the beginning, but here we have Senators drafting legislation like this and nobody even blinks.
Congress is broken, and the only way to fix it is to throw out as many incumbents as possible and get new people in there who understand their oaths, and work on keeping them....
