A KENTUCKY cook put his five-week-old son in the oven overnight while he went to bed, CNN reported. Larry Long, 33, had been smoking marijuana at the restaurant where he works before returning home to share a fifth of whiskey with the baby’s mother, Brandy Hatton, McCracken County Sheriff Jon Hayden said.
High and drunk, he put the baby in the oven - which he left switched off and slightly ajar - and went to bed.
It wasn’t until he woke at 5.30am (local time) to hear the baby’s cries coming from the oven that he realised what he had done.
Mr Long immediately called emergency and a mental health crisis line, who then alerted authorities.
"He actually called a mental health crisis line immediately thereafter and told them that he had done this. And they contacted us," Sheriff Hayden said.

I have heard of putting a baby to sleep in a dresser drawer but never an oven. Alcohol and drugs don’t mix with being a parent.
Yeah, I’m sure that perfectly legal fifth of whiskey didn’t contribute to this story at all. Nope.
I don’t see why the substances are an issue hear, did anyone ever think that this person was insane before he used alcohol and marijuana?
C’mon now, there have been quite a few people that have snapped while on Xanex or anti-depressants. But, we have to figure these people had some serious problems beforehand.

he was smoking pot at work, then went home and drank whiskey. Pot only affects people from 30 min to 2 hours. Me thinks whiskey had far more to do with this. We should make that illegal, what could go wrong?

Maybe if he hadn't smoked pot, he wouldn't have drank so much whiskey. Good thing he passed out before the whiskey made him smoke the crack.
I put 3 babies in the oven. Now I have 2 grown young men and a daughter expecting my 1st grandson.
