And, boy, was I excited!
So I looked at it close.
On the front it said:
United States (then the symbol of a circle around an R meaning Copyright)
CENSUS
2010
So I thought no biggie, nobody can actually copyright the phrase "United States"
Then I checked for a stamp I was convinced there would be no stamp, because official business of the United States can get mailed with no stamp, it's called the franking privilege.
Lo and behold! It's marked Postage and fees paid, permit NO. G-58
So who the hell copyrighted "United States"? And why do they have to pay postage like any other J6P?
The fact that they had to pay postage means it is not official business of the United States Congress.
Or that "Congress" is not official anymore and is in fact just a business.
circle-R or just superscript small-cap R means registered trademark. circle-C is copyright.
Either way, it means a business or person owns it.
WHO????
Congress doesn’t send out the census; the Census Bureau is part of the Executive branch. Hence no franking privilege.
I didn't give out whether I had a mortgage or a paid off house. It's none of their business.
According to the Law, I just had to state how many people were living at my house.
Got mine, too.
Down where it asked “race”, I marked it “Other” and wrote in “American”, which is about as valid as any of the other categories they put on the sheet.
And it should trump anything else.
How come if you apply for a job in the private sector, they don't ask for race and all gov. applications you have to state your race?
Because the government is racist?
I’m not 100% positive that that is true. By refusing to answer, you aresubject to a $100 fine.Knowingly providing false information is punishable by a $200 fine. The government is hurting for money and they know the only people who are going to have a problem with this are Republicans. I wouldn’t be surprised to see them fining people for non-compliance.
1) It's prepaid postage and I need to get rid of all thos ads I get in power and utility bills.
2) Any message I want to send the government I can. If I were to write something like F*** OBAMA on a piece of paper that is on top of the form, it may leave an easily read indentation on the form. Especially if I press REALLY hard when I write it.
3) This will give me a chance to "write like a doctor" when I fill in the names (1st names only) and ages. Of course I will neatly print AMERICAN in the other box for my race.
4) I will also include a photo from the http://www.handsofsarah.com website with a message yet to be chosen. But it will be good.
Any other creative ideas on how to use the census?
If so, post 'em!
I will answer question one, how many people live here.
By law, my answer, or refusal to answer, “cannot be used in court”. (Direct quote)
If you live in:
Free states: fill in number of people, that’s it. No other info for the race-baiting, government preferences crowd to use.
Urban failures: trash the thing. They’re losing population but making up for it in vote fraud. The sooner they lose reps the better.
"Be Wise as Serpents and Harmless as Doves"
Why is the US census so much focussed on a single community, i.e. Hispanics?
It seems like state-mandated discrimination against the others, to me.
E Pluribus Unum, anyone?
For race I wrote in “Alien”
American, which is about as valid as any of the other categories they put on the sheet.
And it should trump anything else.

Yep, believe I’ll be European-American, I’m proud of my heritage too
Didn't we sell those branding rights to China? /s
I think it’s because Hispanics are not a “race” per se. They are an ethnic group and, I believe, are technically white unless there’s a mixed race situation so they have to ask a separate question.
Not trying to start argument folks...just trying to answer the question as I understand it.
Guys, I have been doing geneology for quite a while and other than the first one or two, the census has always asked race.
These are the standard questions up until the last census available, 1930.
Name, age, race, relationship to head of household, state of birth, state of father’s birth, state of mother’s birth.
Just question one and back in the envelope...
