Actor Peter Graves was found dead Sunday at his home in Pacific Palisades, according to law enforcement sources. Graves, who stared in "Mission: Impossible," "Airplane!" and Billy Wilder's "Stalag 17"--apparently died of natural causes, the sources said.
Graves was 83, according to a biography on the website IMDB.com.

Birth Name
Peter Aurness
Brother James Arness
It all makes sense now.
To: packrat35
I thought James Arnes's brother was Jack Palance?
RIP Mr. Graves

Trivia: did the IMF team ever “choose not to accept a mission”?

He could move deftly from comedy to drama. His character in Stalag 17 was terrific.
RIP

Have you ever seen a grown man naked?
Somebody with your screen name should not be axing such questions. Leave it your elected officials....

I don’t recall any controversy about him. IIRC he played the parts of a gentleman, which he probably was in reality.

His best role. Just saw Stalag 17 again a couple of weeks ago.

I was watching Airplane on DVD last night and I enabled the commentary. Graves said that he thought shooting on the film would end when he uttered the line, “Have you seen a man naked?”

Always had a particular affection for his first film, “Rogue River” from 1950, a rather odd, offbeat drama, shot in color, and on-location in Oregon. It used to be a fixture on the late-show, decades ago.
Sad news. I’ve also been in the process of watching the “Mission: Impossible” dvd-sets. Glad all seven seasons made it to dvd.

Didn’t Peter Graves star in a short lived TV show called Whip Lash? The story was about a stage coach driver in Australia.
