Turkey, Angry at U.S., Pledges Support for Iran

(CNSNews.com) – As the Obama administration scrambles to contain the diplomatic fallout with Turkey over the “Armenian genocide” resolution in the U.S. Congress, Turkey’s tilt towards Iran continues largely unnoticed.

Turkey’s “formerly Islamist” president, Abdullah Gul, in a weekend telephone conversation with his Iranian counterpart called for a deepening of bilateral relations and voiced support for Iran in international forums. Turkey is non-permanent member of the U.N. Security Council, the most important international body to have Iran on its current agenda.

The encounter was virtually ignored by media outside of Turkey and Iran.

Iran’s Fars news agency said Gul told President Mahmoud Ahmadinejad “that the two countries would defend each other’s positions at international forums, and emphasized the importance of tightening the relations between them and of consulting on regional and security matters.”

Ahmadinejad praised Ankara’s policies and “strong and progressive” bilateral ties. He said that “regional and global developments are changing in favor of Iran and Turkey,” Turkey’s Dunya Gazetesi newspaper reported.

I want to know the whole story behind this resolution. Why stir a 90 year old pot? Was this done specifically to provoke Turkey against us? Turkey was one of our few friends in that region, what gain is there in pissing them off for no good reason?

Just fits the pattern. odumbass is buddying up to our enemies and intentionally pissing off our allies. The first insult was to appoint a female sec of state who got the job becuase of her last name. Second, he immediately went to al jazeera and made his mission in life to appologize for this country. As to why, who the hell knows. But he is agitating everyone in sight as if he is trying to create a serious crisis. He has hinted that he would be a one term president. Maybe. He may be just one upping Clinton. When clinton left office, his gang vandalized the White House, stole a bunch of furniture and ripped all the W’s off of all the keyboards. Maybe he is creating a HUGE mess for the next president to clean up while he leaves for somewhere else in the world to live like a king and laugh at the destruction he created. In any case, he sure isn’t acting like he is working to create a better world for his kids. Unless he has an escape plan.
