Congressman Emanuel Cleaver said today on KCUR's "Up to Date" that President Barack Obama doesn't have the votes to pass health care reform in the U.S. House.
"We're not at 217," Cleaver said, referring to the number needed to pass the bill.
Later, the three-term Democrat from Kansas City said the passage number could be 216 given vacancies in the House.
The count today, Cleaver said, is about 201 health care supporters.
That number, he added, could fluctuate significantly as a final vote nears.
Listen to the show, that also featured Kansas Congressman Dennis Moore, here.
“Unfortunately, our two most populous regions in Missouri are owned by democrats and unions, and our capitol is heavily inhabited by people on the government dole or whose aunties and cousins are.”
This is one of the most serious problems, in so many states.
“This *could* be a big developing story with major implications for the healthcare vote. Massa is being interviewed by Beck tomorrow. Hopefully this thing gets a lot of legs. The MSM is ignoring it.....for now.”
Cool...the RATS no longer control all of the media...
“Hes not staying. Resignation still stands, he is resigned as of 5:00pm.”
Mebbe, he unresigns, like Brett Favre and Michael Jordan? :)
“Keep calling. The RATS are trying to wear us down.”
It’s a year into their socialist utopia - their hope and change nightmare. They thought it would be much easier to flip the USA into socialism.
We’re wearing THEM down!
Keep calling!!
“If this health care socialization can be delayed til past the elections and massive rats lose, I would not be shocked to see them pass it in Dec - just for spite - as they are walking out the door.”
At that point, the court challenges would be massive, methinks.
Good.
Don’t worry about lame duck session. Kill it now.
Aside from his politics, you can’t say anything bad about the man. It’s a shame he’s not a Pubbie or a more conservative Democrat.
Thanks Mad_Tom_Rackham.
Here's the official Code Red List for the selected HOUSE DEMOCRATS THAT NEED TO BE PUSHED HARDEST.
The clickable links go to their online Message System. You can use the same City, State, Zip, and Area Codes as one of their local district offices (usually listed on the same page) with any street address you want --- you're using local information to get through their spam filter. For Zip+4, use any 4 digits added onto the selected Zip Code.
Write a brief, punchy letter in your Word Program, and cut-and-paste it to one congresscritter after another from the CODE RED LIST.
It is easy to do 15 or 20 of them in an hour.
Each Congressional website also has the phone, fax, and district office addresses for each Representative. I strongly urge you to phone, fax, and if at all possible, personally visit a District Office, This makes a maximum impression.
We can absolutely win this one.
Go get em.
