President Barack Obama summoned more than a dozen Democrats from the House of Representatives to the White House, pleading with them to put aside their qualms and vote for his massive health care overhaul.
In back-to-back meetings Thursday, Obama urged uneasy rank-and-file moderates and progressives to focus on the positives rather than their deep disappointment with parts of the bill. The lawmakers said Obama assured them the legislation was merely the first step, and he promised to work with them in the future to improve its provisions.
It's the opportunity of a generation, he told them -- and a chance to revive the party's agenda after his rough first year in office.
"The president very pointedly talked about how important this is historically," said Democratic Rep. Raul Grijalva, "how he needs our help." Obama told them that "'this is an opportunity, it'll give us momentum"' on other issues, the congressman said.

I think most freepers have noticed disturbing signs.......for instance, the obsessive traits (not letting go of health care, for example), the flights from reality (ignoring the voice of the people), the arrogance, the detachment, the lack of empathy and conscience, the absence of acknowledging a power higher than himself or a religion, the restlessness and almost desperate need for roaming the world (Australia is next) and getting away from the White House, the betrayals of England and Israel, plus other characteristics that, put together, have all the earmarks of a sociopath and fragmented personality.
It's hard to imagine him having a "black" soul....I don't think his soul is operative. He runs his presidency on alien precepts and education, on ego and on warped situation ethics.
Did we ever imagine that as American citizens we would suddenly have a psycho president holding our physical and economic fate in his hands?

I found this the most horribly telling point the president openly made. It's all about, first, drive a hammer and sickle into capitalism, then over time keep making that crack bigger and deeper until capitalism, and our freedom and form of government, crumbles.

Tricare fee increases imposed last week by the Defense Department will be repealed by a provision of the compromise 2010 defense authorization bill unveiled Wednesday by House and Senate negotiators.
The fee increases were announced on Sept. 30 and took effect on Oct. 1, but the defense bill, HR 2647, includes a provision barring any fee increases until the start of fiscal 2011.
Retired Army Maj. Gen. Bill Matz, president of the National Association for Uniformed Services, said the announcement of fee increases was shocking considering that the Obama administration promised earlier this year to hold off on any new fee Tricare fee increases until fiscal 2011.
“President Obama and DoD assured NAUS and the entire military family earlier this year that there would rightly be no increases in any Tricare fees” in fiscal 2010, Matz said. “We took them at their word, and I can’t believe that a co-pay increase like this was allowed to go forward,” he added.
One could even argue that it's not about what is good for the Democratic Party, but for Obama himself.
Obama told them that “’this is an opportunity, it’ll give us momentum”’ on other issues...
Momentum goes in both directions.
He wants the appearance of a success, so that he can use it to urge more movement on his agenda. Form over substance. He does not give a hoot what is passed, as long as _he_ gets *something*.
Begging, pleading and offering elusive *victories* does not make zerO appear strong. It makes him seem weak. He is showing that he is needy. This is not going to convince anyone who already knows it is everyone for themselves and that zerO has a recent, clear history of abandoning anyone if he thinks it will give him any short-term gain.
Most legislators are lawyers. Lawyers are negotiators. How can they not smell the flop sweat?
The donks should ask:”What is this “we” you speak of?”
I’m not saying he won’t do that. I agree he will.
I’m just saying that his “I’ll work with you in the future” shows he wants a rush job.
