Apparently Representative Deal will NOT resign until the Health Care Bill is decided.

Todd must be ready to stick his head in the oven.
Thank you congressman!
Deal isn’t going to win the Gubernatorial nomination, he needs to stay put until the expiration of his term next January.
Crickets chirping. :)
Really?
Really. John Oxendine is the likely victor.
Even though Nathan Deal is my congressman, I’ll vote for Oxendine. Oxendine has been a very good insurance commissioner who has been an advocate for the insurance consumer - I think he’ll make a great Governor. I hope Nathan stays in congress while he runs for Governor.
I’m hoping Ray McBerry is the next Georgia governor.
It’s no criticism on my part of Deal in saying he’s not likely to be the nominee. Oxendine has been the leading candidate for some time now, and by all accounts was the likeliest successor to Perdue.
Deal faced an enormous difficulty in winning the nomination for Governor if only because GA has not been favorably inclined to electing federal officials to the State House. The last Governor to have been elected who previously served in the House was Thomas William Hardwick in 1920 (who served both a stint in the House and the Senate, but was already out of office by the time he was elected Governor). The last person to have gone directly from Congress to the Governorship was the legendary Alexander Hamilton Stephens in 1882.
More than likely, McBerry will probably place at or near dead last in the primary. He’s not polling above 2-3%.
Yeah, I don’t think Deal has a shot at all, so he should just stay put.
Georgia Gal
I haven’t put that much deep historical thought into it. My opinion is that Deal, as my congressman has done a great job. John Oxendine as IC has also done an excellent job. I say let Nathan stay where he is and give Oxy more power.
I just want to know which candidate in this safe district is the most conservative. Don Balfour seems to be too establishment.
That’s a shame. He’s the only real conservative running for office anywhere.
Well, one problem is that he really should win a lesser office first to get some experience, build a record and get some positive name recognition. Governor isn’t an entry-level job.
Your standards must be strict.
McBerry sounds like someone who could hand the office back to rat Roy Barnes.
Yes he could. Georgians really ought to consider McBerry and find out more about him. Terrific speaker, too.
Chuck Todd is probably the most unbiased news journalist on the NBC payroll . . .that’s not saying much though.
