And no, I’m not talking about basketballs or baseballs or golf balls. You know what I’m talking about — excuse the language, but we need to be blunt. And you know that it’s the question that will hang over the Republican Party from now until November as it tries to persuade the base — let alone the American electorate — that it can provide a real alternative to the current crop of big government corruptocrats in power in Washington. So: Does the GOP have enough balls to fight the Left or doesn’t it? You know about my doubts. You’ve heard my warning about McCain Regression Syndrome. Now, I want you to read every word of what Andy McCarthy has to say about the GOP leadership’s abandonment of Jim Bunning — and what it says about the lack of Republican fortitude in the war against the permanent, ever-growing Nanny State. Andy speaks the truth. Hard truths. And fiscal conservatives/Tea Party activists need to shout them from the rooftops. I’ve invoked Phyllis Schlafly many times over the past year in urging the GOP to provide true choices instead of echoes. Actions speak louder than words. So, alas, does feckless inaction:

Refreshing answer. I was expecting to see some more tripe about a "third party." I like your solution a lot better!

Unfortunately, I use to think the 3rd party way was the solution, but no longer. I see the vanity of that approach now. Both political parties have remade themselves into a ruling elite that no longer represent the will of the people, and will ignore the citizens wishes while furthering actions to solidify their power and influence over those citizens. The Constitution addresses what must be done in such circumstances.

We hold these truths to be self-evident, that all men are created equal, that they are endowed by their Creator with certain unalienable Rights, that among these are Life, Liberty and the pursuit of Happiness. That to secure these rights, Governments are instituted among Men, deriving their just powers from the consent of the governed, That whenever any Form of Government becomes destructive of these ends, it is the Right of the People to alter or to abolish it, and to institute new Government, laying its foundation on such principles and organizing its powers in such form, as to them shall seem most likely to effect their Safety and Happiness. Prudence, indeed, will dictate that Governments long established should not be changed for light and transient causes; and accordingly all experience hath shewn, that mankind are more disposed to suffer, while evils are sufferable, than to right themselves by abolishing the forms to which they are accustomed. But when a long train of abuses and usurpations, pursuing invariably the same Object evinces a design to reduce them under absolute Despotism, it is their right, it is their duty, to throw off such Government, and to provide new Guards for their future security.

Jim Bunning buckled after initially standing up

The person who stands up... and when attacked, instead of buckling, turns the argument against the socialist sob story peddlers will be our next president.

I think Bunning got 18 other people to vote with him. I have not seen the roll call log of that vote. But am pretty sure there are no democrats on it.The answer to Malkins question is the rest of the GOP voted againt Bunning proposal which means THEY HAVE NO BALLS...that has to be the starting point.Run conservatives against every one of them and get the RINO’s out of the Senate and peoples house as well...

Its about power...has NOTHING to do with “healthcare” other than that’s the excuse for a power grab...

Truth be told...The Repblicrat’s-they’d love to have this thing pass...and then take the House and Senate in 2010. They would then have a lot of power to play with.

The Dem-Republican Good Cop-Bad Cop con routine is the longest running, most successful play of that con anywhere in the world.

The real game is DC versus Flyover Country. It does’nt come to an end until all in Flyover Country finally get it. IMHO, they are just starting to wake up.

I am not even sure who Jim DeMint is...

He may be a good conservative... but you never know for sure until the media turns it's undivided attention and cameras to focus on you. That's when you either *blink* like most do under those circumstances, or you rise to the occasion and position yourself as the new standard barer of conservatism.

He hasn't had that moment, when and if he does I and the rest of America will be watching to judge his real metal.

You can't stage a moment like what I am referring to, you can't MAKE it happen, it only happens when the left thinks they have you, the press start salivating, and then you explode their entire world view with your unexpected response.

The last time I remember someone doing it was when Wayne LaPierre did it in regards to gun control during the Clinton administration and in my opinion singlehandedly saved the 2nd amendment.

just look at all the support the GOP gave Jim Bunning.

Jim Bunning has probably gotten more support from his jock strap than he has gotten from the GOP
