Some observations:

All of those counties that are heavily Republican are adjacent to either D/FW, Houston, or Austin. The heavy democratic ones are either the big cities or are border counties. Most rural Texas counties north of a line from Corpus Christi to Laredo (i.e. further from Mexico) are heavily Republican. I suppose that is similar to most states in that most the people who live in urban squalor tend to vote for the democratic party. Something about not seeing any trees or cows or the lack of asphalt and smog....

Surprised about Tarrant County, inasmuch as it was the home of Brother Jim Wright.

Tarrant County is not as "urban" as folks might think even though it contains both Fort Worth and Arlington. And while Jim Wright successfully pork-barrelled a lot of projects to and around then General Dynamic (now Lockheed Martin), he by and large campaigned in Fort Worth as a fiscally conservative democrat (even though he legislated as a screaming liberal). When he lost his seat, it was held initially by Pete Geren, who by democrat standards was extremely conservative, but has since been held by Republican Kay Grainger who is a fairly reliable conservative rep. Tarrant County is largely suburban rather than urban.

Perry leans too far to the left at times for the taste of most of us, but consider this: Texas is in better shape than almost any other state in the union since it's been under Perry's governorship since 2000!

Glenn Beck has once again helped the tea-party stay in the Republican mainstreamby by weeding out dangerous fringe thinkers like Medina.

Medina is NOT representative of the Tea Party movement. She USED them- latched herself on to them. She’s a hard core Libertarian who has realized that the Libertarian Party will never win anything and that the only possible way to get herself into office is to do what Ron Paul did and wrap herself in the Republican cloak in hopes that it will fool enough of the voters enough of the time.

Whatever you may think of Glenn Beck; thank God he outed her in time to avert a tragedy in Texas.

Our early voting process in Texas is pretty much identical to our election day process, except that multiple precincts can share one common early voting location. In my experience, the early voting process in Texas is no more conducive to voter fraud than the voting that takes place on election day. Personally, I am glad that we have the convenience of early voting. When George W Bush was first elected as Governor of Texas, I was watching the election results from my hotel room in Phoenix, Arizona while on a business trip that came up at the last minute. When George W Bush was initially elected as President in 2000 (before algore began his campaign to steal the election), I watched the election returns coming in from my hotel room in Parsippany, New Jersey, while on a business trip that came up at the last minute. In both elections, I had taken advantage of early voting, and in both cases if we had not had early voting available I would have missed out on voting in those elections.

Absentee voting allows for people to pull ballots for dozens of people at a time. They simply pull as many ballots as possible and take them to nursing homes, adult day care centers and graveyards and ‘help’ these people to vote.

What exactly do you think ACORN was up to in all the big cities? Do you think they where just helping to get out the vote? They where creating the votes and do so on a regular basis. Ask Norm Coleman what he thinks about the possibility of absentee balloting leading to voter fraud. I am certain he would agree with me. It is not accidental that Democrats keep counting votes until their candidate is leading and than quit counting. They can ‘find’ up to 5% of the needed votes in any large city in America. The fact is if you are not legitimately out of town, IE: absent from the district on election day, peddle your a$$ to the polls to vote. If you can not have enough interest in voting to at least do that, I would prefer that you not vote at all.

Yes, particularly in states like Ohio that allow you to register and vote on the same day, almost no documentation needed, thank you ‘motor voter’

I’ m against them mass marking IE premarking ballots for these people and distributing them. That is what the unions and ACORN do. If people who are out of town, in jail or in a nursing home they can request a ballot themselves. If they can not or do not they should not vote.

Same day voter registration isn’t available in Texas, so doesn’t apply.

Essentially a request by the voter is required to be made to the Clerk within a specified time period which begins 60 days prior to the election and ends 7 days before the election. The request must be submitted by mail; common or contract carrier; telephonic facsimile machine. The clerk mails the ballot to the individual if they meet all the request documentation and are a registered voter. The voter votes the ballot and returns it in a carrier envelope via mail or common carrier which the carrier must present along with the ballot a delivery reciept of who gave them the ballot.

Fraud can happen for sure but I don’t thinks it’s as rampant as you think so here in Texas. It is a lot more one on one from the request to the mailing of the ballot to the mailing back of the executed ballot.
