"Political, religious and sexual behaviors may be reflections of intelligence, a new study finds."
So began an article published at CNN.com Friday guaranteed to anger conservatives from coast to coast.
The piece continued, "Evolutionary psychologist Satoshi Kanazawa at the the London School of Economics and Political Science correlated data on these behaviors with IQ from a large national U.S. sample and found that, on average, people who identified as liberal and atheist had higher IQs."
Folks are warned about proceeding further, for the content might be really offensive to some (h/tips to NB readers Stan and Chesley):

I would gather from his professional title, that this guy is really smart. And unbiased too.
Wow! People who agree with them have a higher IQ. Imagine that!!
>> “found that, on average, people who identified as liberal and atheist had higher IQs.”
I wonder what happened.
A totally unrelated study finds that ignorant fools usually think they are intelligent...
Which is why they need teleprompters to put more than 4 words together.......
If they have higher IQs then why do they consistently come up with the wrong answers to society’s and life’s problems?
Selfish ego goes along with the IQ. That may be a significant part of the answer.
“For the foolishness of God is wiser than man’s wisdom, and the weakness of God is stronger than man’s strength.”
Seems like this debate has been with mankind from the beginning.
Hitler had a high IQ, as did many Nazi’s who made one of the most impressive war machines in history. (for it’s time)
In this IQ “finding”, I detect hubris, as well as arrogance and self righteousness. A dangerous combination.
Achilles comes to mind.
Obviously you didn't comprehend the definition of liberal vs conservative. But I am an atheist and further to the right than you, so I must be one of those .003%?
The curse of the half-brights.
I’m sorry. I’ll return my Ph.D. immediately. And as far as that ‘sexual’ connotation goes,................
Higher IQ’s are needed to keep track of all the lies.
Why do they think that the problem is that the right people haven't tried to implement failed policies of the past?
Why do they filter out the history of countries where what they currently advocate has failed miserably?
That is the PERFECT question. HAHAHAHAHA! Kudos!
A little intelligence is a dangerous thing. Were the smart atheists and liberals to become even smarter, they would come around to value the clarity and truth inherent in well-considered faith. They would see enough to know their limitations, and accept that there is Power higher than themselves.
Personally, one way the devil really gets to me is to remind me that so many really intelligent people would ridicule that “crutch” I use called religion. I can’t stand that smart people would not think me very smart, and the whole ‘faith’ thing could really be just superstitious wishful thinking. Perhaps some atheists are like me. They don’t want to be thought stupid, and they gain some self-esteem by thinking that they are superior to all those narrow religious people.
What they don’t gain from that is any hope. That’s what typically brings me back from from the brink, back from joining the ranks of jaded, faithless intellectuals. Why would anyone voluntarily accept being just a purposeless bag of chemicals? And, truthfully, nobody lives as though that is all they are.
Faith gives hope. What do atheists have to offer that is as good as hope? Well, they think humans who try hard enough can solve the ills of the world, hence the liberalism. Humans can do a lot to improve some things, but ultimately only when they are relying upon higher principles and Power and acting with humility and charity. Otherwise, condescension and coercion are likely to poison the effort.
Isa 5:21 Woe unto them that are wise in their own eyes, and prudent in their own sight!
There is no statistical difference between an IQ of 95 and that of 106. Both would be in the range of “normal”.
