The man, who was just doing the maps on CNN, was excellent during the Haiti Coverage as well.
He knows when to shut up...and let the experts (like the man from GA Tech) explain.
They are so well prepped to cover disasters (that aren’t of the political DC type).

That 100x number is completely nonsensical.
According to Wiki, an 8.5 releases 5.6 GIGATONS.

Yeah, no need to leave, but tell that to thousands of panicky tourists who are suddenly very homesick.
Hilo airport just closed....thanks maggie

CNN has some guy on talking about all the social things that were on the Chilean agenda. Some kind of language conference, that the King of Spain was going to attend...I think they have bigger problem than that.

Coverage excellent on CNN, but, this Latin American chief correspondent who said this was an especially bad time as it comes ahead of a proposed visit by Hillary Clinton and then some king was a bit over the top. When is a good time for an 8.8 earthquake?

CNN by far exceeded Fox in that situation.
FoxNews is doing their regular Saturday morning business reports.
CNN and MSNBC are doing reports on the Chilean earthquake and resulting tsunami.

Yeah I am going to have to call BS on the 130’ wave. Not that they aren’t possible, in fact they are very possible, however if there was a 130’ wave it would essentially wipe out the entire Juan Fernandez population and Chile would not know about it for days. The 2004 earthquake/tsunami which had a greater magnitude than this one caused at it’s highest peak 100’ waves.

Where’d I put those keys?
(Sorry, I needed to lighten-up the thread). I fear we will find the devastation from this incomprehensible.

I agree.. if they do news & not artistic interpretation of politics, I can like them.

Gibbster weighing. No doubt, waking Barky up, getting him into hair/makeup for him to hit the cameras.
Now CNN will have a “music star from American Idol” on to share his experiences in a hotel there.
I may have to rescind my “excellent coverage” comment.

How beautiful! It appears there’s some safe areas to go UP to if they had warning.
