If ANYTHING happens in WA, it’ll be at Long Beach, Ocean Shores, etc. They are exposed to the Pacific. Seattle has the Olympic Peninsula and faces AWAY from where the possible tsunami is coming from.
Vancouver is also on the water, but Vancouver Island would act like a ‘shield’. So, no Olympic disruption.
I’m not so much worried about us...Hawaii is what I’m concerned for.

Now matter how you look at it, an 8.8 is huge.To be honest, I've have been on top of a 5.7 and thought it was the end of the world.

Chile has had large EQ in the past, and I think their building standards are fair. MUCH better than Haiti. I guess we’ll know soon enough, but based on the color intensity map posted upthread, the saking at the ground only reached a level of 8, not 10 like in Haiti.

When I lived in Ketchikan, AK, for about 2 years, we received if I remember at least 2 significant tsunami warnings.
I wish I could remember what/where the earthquakes were that triggered the warnings.
The small town was ribboned on the edge of the island. The only defense was to move up to higher ground.

I just got my son’s globe out of his bedroom. I just can’t see the Pacific Northwest being in danger. But Hawaii has been in the path of a Chile generate tsunami before. I have a condo on Kaanapali, Maui.
