Host vs. Host: Limbaugh, Levin Pummel Beck
The Atlantic Wire ^ | 02/24/10 | Jake Simpson

Posted on 02/24/2010 12:59:45 PM PST by writer33

Virtually unknown a year ago, Glenn Beck has rapidly risen to the top of the right-wing punditocracy. Witness his keynote address at CPAC, where the Fox News titan assailed Republicans and Democrats alike and called for a return to bedrock conservative values. Though conservatives bloggers were nonplussed by Beck's attacks on the right, most praised at least some elements of his speech.

I think he is referring to them as progressive because he feels that that is the description they want to go to next, to get past the liberal label. So he is cutting them off at the pass.

It appears this Friday Beck is going to make a push for the Libertarians on his TV show.

Yep, right into a third party. If he does that, the others will unload on him.

Looks like the left is trying to use Rush to discredit Beck. Now isn’t THAT a shock!!

Beck might not understand it but he’s making people disillusioned and will discourage people from voting in November.

I've been disillusioned since Bush 41. It didn't take Glenn Beck to bring me that epihany. In my humble opinion, if someone isn't disillusioned by the complete lack of meaningful, effective difference between Democrats and Republicans, they just aren't paying attention.

The question is: What's the effective way to fix things?

I can't understand why anyone would be disillusioned given the many options we have!

You don’t piss off the big dog when you’re an ankle-biter. I am not making anything up, but Beck drew first blood with Levin and now Limbaugh’s going to finish it. He’s giving him his time to get off that schtick or he’ll make Beck the laughing stock.

Way to go Ace!

You are playing right into the hands of the MSM. This arguing is exactly what they wanted as they have run out of ideas as to how to stop us.

Why don't you spend you time attacking the liberals? They are the real problem...but NO, you have to nit-pick on conservatives and measure them against one another. "Who is more conservative than who?"

How disgusting!

Beck never “carried the water for the GOP”.

Won’t happen. I love Rush, but even Rush has to explain that after all the years he was against McCain, he didn’t stand by his principles and tell people they should not vote for McCain. Now I know why, and I understand. Still adore Rush.

Way it goes FRiend.

Lots of hypocrisy goin’ on heah!

Sorry, but Beck has never been “working for the same goal”. His goal is to take the Tea party movement into the Libertarian party and that will mean a generation lost to the Left. It may even mean America’s permanent destruction.

Everytime I hear Beck say "progressive" I want to stuff an eraser into his luscious lips. There's nothing progressive about liberals

There's nothing liberal about them, either. Liberal is defined as broad-minded, tolerant, generous. They're none of those things. In fact, they're the antithesis of those things.

We've invested decades of hard work into turning the word "liberal" into a "trigger word"

Do you feel the same way about Levin calling them "statists" (which is the most accurate word for them)?

I think Most Conservative Republicans, including Rush and Mark are tired of Beck saying Republicans and Democrats are all alike and pushing his libertarian third party.

Beck said Mon. at 2:48pm PST he wasn’t for third parties BUT
if there isn’t a choice he will go 3rd.

Beck is slick in the way he pushes his libertarian shtik.
It is Beck who is dividing Republicans, to suck them
into the Libertarian world of all or nothing.

Since 3rd parties usually receive less than 5% Beck will take the nothing rather than 95% conservative Republican.

It is this mentality that helped give us Obama.

That is the reason I always call them leftists. I listen to Horowitz. That is what they are. Chavez types.

Hard to characterize Beck as an ankle biter, given his audiences, book sales, and personal appearance gigs. Rush is a practitioner of standard two-party politics and that worked fine when the country still had economic slack. However, it has lead to failure too. If Rush was so successful as he thinks, why are we in this mess? And if we are in such a mess, why do we need Rush?

I’m not claiming that Beck or 3rd parties are the cure, only that drastic times will probably require drastic measures, and not a return of Congresses composed of 35-40 true conservatives and the rest RINOs. Because that is where Rush’s tactics will get us.

Basically, I think that this country is past tense and screwed, regardless.

Captain, There are those that post for effect. Some have some serious obsessive issues with levin. They have a website that promotes/worships levin, make up catchy little words like becker. Post, almost daily something to critisize beck of promote levin. By the by, how are you today?

So why did he exempt DeMint and Pence? They are spenders too, the both voted for Bush’s agenda, didn’t they? Beck better come out and clarify his remarks since it appears there are a whole lot of people besides me that heard it different than what you tell us he said.

You wouldn’t happen to know what political party Beck belongs to, do you? Or does anyone here? I’m curious.

Liberal come from the word liberty, something American Lefties are against.

Progressives on the other hand, have a long history as control freaks and eugenicists that progress towards the future. The future defined as a jackboot on the face of humanity.

Rush was definently taking underhanded pot shots at Beck today.

No question about it. I turned it off...

Prove he's not.

You obviously don't listen very closely to his words. I suggest you pretend to be objective and pay attention. He's a blowhard with visions of being a "great man".
