Yes, it is interesting. The reports about gas pedal malfunction on Toyotas is widely reported, yet almost no attention at all that the part in question is made by a US company.
Mr. Toyota apparently hasn’t learned how to play the blame game yet.
Curious if the part was made by a US Co. here in the US, or elsewhere? [Lots of metal manufacturing is down in Mexico now, and over in China, too...]
You’re right that Toyota should be shining a spotlight on the company that supplied the part assembled here in the US. That’s where the real problem with quality comes into play. Who was the machinist(s) making the part, and how qualified are they (a huge problem with parts made OUT of the US in re: to quality because of inferior training in many cases, or could even be defects in where that company got the metal!).
PS - No matter what company you are buying a car from (incl. GM, Ford, etc...) none can claim their entire car is made here in the US. Too many parts coming in from all across the world being put into cars assembled here...
