LOL!
I lived through that Mormon/John Birch era. In those days I didn’t even know the church was questionable let alone Skousen. Trouble was that when you go to meetings with people whose eyes are already glazed over with Mormonism and the big shots whom you respected the day before all started looking and sounding like Glenn Beck, it was cause for concern.
Maybe that’s why I see through him.
BTW Mormon American Conservative Author is very forgiving description for that off the charts right wing fundamentalist who was also probably a polygamist.
Nonsense! - - Ailes tried to get Levin to do a program on Fox, and he refused. Beck is third or fourth choice there.
.
What he is trying to get across to us is that we ARE making progress getting our message thru to the Republican idiots we elected that they should either shape up or we'll ship them out.
Given the choice between believing what Mark Levin is saying vs Glenn Becks foaming at the mouth rants, Mark wins in this house hold hands down.
FReeper Levin, is The Great One.

You've got a point there... to a degree.
But the problem isn't just "liberal Republicans".
The problem is STUPID Republicans. Republicans who cave at the last minute just to appear BIPARTISAN so that the media will "like" them (which they never do) and so that they will be FRIENDS with everyone on "the hill".
I know ohioWfan will hate me for saying this but W was at least sometimes in that category. He did some very, very stupid things the motivation for which was completely beyond me and which I can only attribute to that horrible and hateful urge to be BIPARTISAN.
And if you think only "liberal Republicans" suffer from the BIPARTISAN disease, you are mistaken.
The only politicians who are absolutely free of the plague of "bipartisanship" are the democrats.
In that sense we should be more like them.

The LIBS will LOVVVVVVE this and will go to down on this and work with backhoes if they have to to make this gap as wide as possible and engineer internecine fighting.
Governor Sarah Palin Supported the Bailout?
It has falsely been implied that Governor Sarah Palin supported the Bailout. You may have seen this: “Sarah Palin: Bailout or Great Depression. Choose.”
Yet again, another statement that sounds damning as is. But what did Governor Sarah Palin actually say about it? Let’s see for ourselves.
Couric: “If this [bailout] doesn’t pass, do you think there’s a risk of another Great Depression?”
Governor Sarah Palin: “Unfortunately, that is the road that America may find itself on. Not necessarily this, as it’s been proposed, has to pass or we’re gonna find ourselves in another Great Depression. But there has to be action taken, bipartisan effort . . .” (source)
“Unfortunately, that is the road that America may find itself on”
That doesn’t sound like “The Sky Is Falling!” to me.
“Not necessarily this, as it’s been proposed . . . “
Wow! Some solid support for the Bailout there! /Sarcasm Off
“But there has to be action taken . . . “
Okay. Congress should do something. We never do get the details from the Couric interview of what Governor Palin thinks should be done, but there is no resounding support for the Bailout here. None unless your world is filtered through PDS goggles.
I agree about Beck being everywhere. This could end up being over-kill. When the public gets saturated with somebody, they usually tire of it quickly.
The sad thing is that Beck is teaching the American public what the schools have not taught them. The things he brings out have long been hidden from the public.
I agree he’s all over the place .. but I believe I can tell you why. He’s still considered a “new believer” .. even if he’s a Mormon. Sadly, there’s a lot of renewing of the mind that has to take place, which accounts for his glorification of his drunkeness. Eventually, he will begin to loathe it and that will be the turning point. That’s when a calmness comes over you.
All this fame seems to be kind of distracting him from just teaching The Constitution and how we’re so far from where we should be in understanding our history.
I like watching his show because he has some really informed guests and there is no arguing - just information.
I do hope Levin is wrong about Beck wanting a third party; I agree with Levin, the idea is not good. While it might be more difficult to overtake the GOP, it’s a much better plan than trying to start another party.
Unfortunately, the evidence is massive, convincing, and doesn't support the positions of the Birch haters, so they don't bring it up.
.
I also wonder how many on this thread were Bushbots, "Day in the Life of President Bush" or Republican-Firster (i.e. would vote for a RINO Republican over a Conservative independent in a three way race) types in the past. Just a wild guess, I guess.
Respectfully, I need to split your comment down the middle. He is addressing an issue -- the biggest issue we face politically in both 2010 and 2012. The main opposition to Obamunism, the Republican Party, is not equipped with the political compass it needs to succeed. I feel this is a deliberate decision and so does Beck.
As for your the rest of your comments, though, I tend to agree. Beck is an entertainer and this clearly shows through in his approach to what he does.
Levin doesn’t like that kind of thing to begin with. He’s a family man; I don’t blame him. God bless Levin. And God bless Beck too, although Glenn needs to read a chapter of Machiavelli [I’ll post next].
“Beck spent precious little time aiming fire at Obama-Pelosi-Reid in his speech, and it is they who are destroying our country.”
Amen Levin!
Usually in the broadcast business the eleventh commandment is to speak no evil about your comrades. Michael Savage has broken the rule and is routinely snubbed by many of the bigger talkers from Mark to Rush to Hannity.
I don't see Glen Beck as another Savage, IMHO.
Is he a bit disorganized from time to time, yes of course.
However, does he have all the qualities that make for a good show from a stellar voice,to a brilliant sense of humor,to an in-depth use of the medium?Yes.
In addition he has a genuinely incredible delivery of many topics that is so good he does bring some in the audience and himself to tears from time to time.
Is that a no no in broadcasting, hardly. It just shows the depth of his convictions and in Beck's case the depth of research he has done.
All in all I see no reason for the circular firing squad or the petty squabbling about Beck. Most of us that watched that speech were deeply effected by it.It was from the heart, with just the barest of notes and you could tell that he had done tons of research.
There were so many great points brought out that we will be quoting from it for a long time. Would I rather that he blasted zero more and did tell the difference between dems and us? Of course.
But is he entitled to his own delivery and his own brand of logic, obviously yes. Other wise people would be turning the dial in droves and yet just the opposite is happening.
Can we give Glen Beck a break please!
On that, I agree. I'm doing something that I never thought I would be doing - getting physically involved. I've been going to monthly tea party meetings as well as a couple of other conservative group meetings when my schedule allows. A LOT of republicans are present, and they're starting to listen. I've been writing letters to the various politicians over the last several years, and I've attended a handful of city council meetings but I've stepped up the pace over the last 10 months or so.
I'm no politician, and I make no bones about it. I'm as apt to punch a liberal in the mouth as to debate him. But that doesn't mean I shouldn't be getting more connected with the activities that we need to do to take the party back from those psuedo-conservatives running the party.
I am one that thinks that Glen Beck is doing a tremendous job of motivating people. He is certainly one of the small handful of voices to which I pay attention. He has apparently angered some, but if that anger is directed in the right direction (hint - not back at Beck), it will help immensely.
I don't like the republican leadership, and I don't like more than half of the republicans involved at the national level right now. But some stand out as great people, and I will support those people. I've supported Jim DeMint and I am supporting Jim Kasich in Ohio, Marco Rubio in Florida, and JD Hayworth in Arizona. I can't vote for any of them, but I can send a few dollars to their campaigns. If a few conservatives beat RINO incumbents in the primary race, that will help immensely.
Its all a fierce, free market ratings war anways, at the end of the day. They want the people to listen to ME!!!! on the radio, or no, no, no, listen and watch ME!!! on the TV, during those times slots. Pure free market competitive business. I can handle it.
Not currently, when the big ones at the top are mostly RINO's. However, if we run enough of the RINO's out in the next elections, it can become a "much better representation of American society" and conservative values as well.
Do you remember Beck's Rallies for America back in 2003? Huge rallies against the anti-American left in 17 cities in the spring of 2003. At the Atlanta rally, Beck drew a crowd of 25,000 people to Centennial Olympic Park.
What about Beck's 9-12 Project? Three weeks after Rick Santelli's rant, Beck launched the 9-12 Project which ultimately inspired the Taxpayer March on Washington. Beck was an early leader in the anti-Obama, anti-Tax protest movement.
