Rep. Ron Paul (R-Texas) ran away with the presidential straw poll at the Conservative Political Action Conference Saturday, with 31 percent of the vote. Paul's libertarian conservative message has made him a hero to small- government Republicans for years, but this is the first CPAC straw poll he has ever won.

Looks like ballot stuffing with that kind of disparity.
Paul is a loon.

Agh. I should never, never come into these threads.

Arguing with Ron Paul Devotees is akin to arguing with global warming fanatics.

It is a form of religion, I think.

I don’t see how this is so. RP is in favor of absolute free trade, not this nonsense we have now with all these so-called “agreements” that only serve to hurt U.S. business and employ more gov’t bureaucrats. He’s also for completely unrestricted travel to other countries. Basically the Jeffersonian creed of friendship and commerce with all nations, entangling alliances with none. How can that be called isolationist?

I thought the guy was a true conservative.

He is. Many on FR aren't. Just deluded.

Paul is the ultimate internationalist. He is for free trade and diplomacy. The true isolationists are the people who want to get to war with everyone.

The convention was stacked with Beck and Paul supporters, hence the "victory" for Paul.

The real world, outside the CPAC convention, would beg to differ.

Personally my favorites are Ann Coulter and Lt. Col West.

Have a nice day.

And Glenn Beck is Paul’s biggest fan.

And support your claim. Facts! I listen to Glenn since the beginning of his TV appearance and never did he claim to be Paul's biggest fan. You are getting garbage. Lets be clear, much of Ron Paul's ideas are good conservative American ideas, there is no doubt about that. But the man is not Presidential material.

Anti semitism, isolationism, and sending your thugs out to crash everyone else’s events..........sure he’s my kind of guy.

I supported the war on Iraq. There is no issue that Beck has ever stated that is in opposition to Paul.

Get YOUR facts.

I agree that Beck is not a Paul fan and, IMHO, that is to Paul’s credit. Although Beck has some good ideas, he is a loose emotional cannon. Agree or agree with him, Paul is a sober consistent man of principle.

Paul is a conservative libertarian. He is for constitutional change that would not be confused with Rino change nor Obama marxist change.

I still don’t want him to be the President but I am glad he is there kicking the gloalists/socialists/fascists in the butts. He’d be better than Romney.
