This will be interesting to watch play out. As others noted, today’s PM isn’t the Iron Lady.

I back the UK 100%, but it has been proven over and over that it is difficult to keep control of land that is so far away from the motherland. What strategic advantage does owning the Falklands give the UK? Why bother and why shed more blood?
Just sayin.

With what?
They don’t even have a carrier anymore.
The Brit submariners are pretty good (maybe the best!). They could wipe out the Argie navy in pretty short order, but they can’t stop an invasion or land troops. And, IIRC, they’re running short on SSNs, too.

This brings to mind the Belgrano. England still has submarines. Jeez, these people should just let it go.

Falkand War part two; or does Argentina expect England to roll over?
To: MHalblaub
I still have this issue from the first go 'round. My favorite :-) Unfortunately, I think England's military will not be able to do much this time around.

I’m surprised people are having such a poke at the UK, given they’ve been extremely active in both Iraq and Afghanistan. Their contribution there hasn’t exactly been meek by any stretch. If they haven’t the balls then how do we explain their presence in those two countries? Just sayin’.
To: MHalblaub
This could be resolved peacefully if Argentina did the right thing, namely offering to pay for land that (IMO) has been UK sovereign territory for centuries.
But no. Argentina would rather steal it.
Let’s just see how that works out.

Let me see....mmmmmmm. Being that Britain is a member of the European Union, isn’t this their problem. Argentina is picking a fight with the EU. Let’s see if the EU has any balls and does it pay to belong to this benign organization.

Here we go again, time to break out the pop corn. The question is does Britain still have it in them to “get er done” again. Too bad Margret Thatcher is no longer at 10 Downing Street because the userper holding the office now is a whimp.
