>> I warned everyone here about Fred Thompson a long time ago, and mainly all it got me was abuse. <<

True. It's a waste of time to discuss Fred's shortcomings with the holier-than-thou diehard Fredheads on FR, they just ignore anytime he does something wrong. During the Scozzafava-Hoffman race, they were here on in droves to gloat about how Fred is soooooo much better than all the other big-name Republicans in America (Eric Cantor, Tim Pawlenty, etc., etc.) because Fred endorsed the conservative underdog. As I said at the time, it's great that Fred ended up on the right side during a primary campaign for ONCE, but being on the right side this time doesn't excuse him endorsing RINOs in a bunch of other races. Let's see if he turns over a new leaf.

Well sadly it appears to have been a one-time thing. Rick Santorum was also one of the "prominent early supporters" of Doug Hoffman. but I didn't see ANY freeper proclaim what a great guy Rick was for doing that and ignore the fact Rick had a history of endorsing Specter and other RINOs as Fred Thompson was given a pass for (Fred was a cheerleader for socialist Linc Chafeee in the 2006 Senate primary which IMO is worse than a Specter primary endorsement).

Likewise, Huckabee endorsed Rubio over Crist in Florida but you don't see anyone here use that good move of Huckabee part to gloat about it and ignore what he had done wrong in the past, or talk about how great Huck was for endorsing a conservative underdog when other Republicans wouldn't.

There is a big segment of FR that puts Fred on a pedestal and simply cannot admit to this day that he has serious flaws just like the rest of the "major candidates" in the 2008 GOP primary.

Hunter may have had little chance of winning the 2008 GOP primary for president, but it's clear he was the better conservative of the two, and Fred was way too cozy with the GOP establishment and with RINOs -- something alot of holier-than-thous freepers who claim Fred was Reagan reincarnated and everyone else was a "socialist", including Fred's buddy McCain -- will never bring themselves to admit. Fred and John Thune are two guys who CONSTANTLY sucked up to McCain in the Senate and got a complete pass from FR while Lindsey Graham gets crucified for doing exactly what Fred did in the Senate (voting in favor of amnesty, fawning over McCain, helping RINOs win primaries, etc.).

And I consider this endorsement worse than Sarah Palin's unofficial endorsement of McCain, considering the fact that McCain did nothing for Fred. Fred is a retired U.S. Senator and could just have easily said nothing about the primary race in Arizona and no one would have noticed. Vocally endorsing McCain early on looks bad, IMO.

It stinks to high heaven. But we’ll beat that RINO anyway!

Has Santorum endorsed Specter for 2010? He should to be consistent.

As far as I’m concerned, McCain is the conservative litmus test. Anyone who supports him deserves extra scrutiny, including Sarah Palin and Fred Thompson.

McCain epitomizes everything that’s wrong with Washington DC these days. His re-election would do SIX long years of damage to the conservative cause, and let me state clearly we’ve already had a Republican majority led by the likes of McCain. It wasn’t pretty, folks!
