He didn’t say that.
He made a common sense statement that everyone knows is true.
Maybe it was impolitic to state it, but the reaction is way overblown.
Las Vegas is protesting too much.
It may be a true statement. Why then did he not single out, or even make mention of, Reno, or Atlantic City, or Laughlin, or the Indian Res's across the nation? Simple, Las Vegas is a symbol that everyone can identify with, and obama was gunning for populist class warfare points; just like when he attacked banks, and Wall Street, and executives, etc, etc.
I don't blame the people of Vegas for being upset one bit. In hard economic times, the President of the United States got on national television and made statements that arguably have directly led to even harder times for their city.
Besides that, where is it any concern of the office of the President how I, or any other American, spend my discretionary cash, as long as it is on legal items and/or activities?
Good for you, Mayor Goodman!!
Obama and all Liberal RATs including Reid aren’t fairing well in Nevada!
Good for him. He said as much the most recent time Obama slagged LV; I hope he is as good as his word.
Are you kidding? Obama made statements that were damaging to the economic interests of Vegas. Whether Vegas diversified its economy has nothing to do with this. I can’t belive you said that.
I would refuse to meet with him, too.
An invitation to meet with Obama is like winning a free ticke to the Okra show and a trip to Mexico City in one day.
NO President should EVER say something like this about any city or any economy.
His comments were the TRUTH. I’m kind of getting tired of people not being able to say boo without someone getting offended.
Making a big deal out of it what he said, and not letting it go (how many weeks have they been harping on this now?) is making Vegas and Nevadans look petty and pathetic.
There are MUCH large problems and MUCH more relevant things to criticize Obama about.
Ho can it be populists class warfare unless he was aiming to criticize the middle class wo are Vegas’ biggest clients?
That makes no sense at all. He’s not going to criticize the middle class in a class warfare, he’s going to criticize the rich. Vegas is NOT identified with the rich. It’s identified with the middle class.
Vegas would not exist execpt for middle class people. That’s why they are hurting for business right now.
Vegas cut their payout on a black jack from 3-2 to 6-5. Screw them!!!!
Good for Goldman. Why meet with the pRez when one has a busy schedule? Chit-chating with oBama isn’t quite a good use of time, if you ask me. Goldman made the right decision.
I share your irritation regarding everyone getting offended. Most of the time I couldn’t care less about people being offended because I know that being offended has turned in to a way to control what people say.
I do not agree that this is making Vegas and Nevadans look petty. You can criticize Obama or not on any subject you choose. It’s a free country. Barack Obama is destroying this nation to the best of his ability. I will criticize him as I choose.
