Greece has been a faithful ally of the West and has sacrificed much blood and treasure to resist Fascism and Communism in three world wars: I, II, and Korea and the Cold one.
Let’s not even talk about its 1300 year resistance to Mohamedans.

Greece has a vocal hard left. (In Greece everything is vocal). But anti-American Greeks as a whole are not, they know who saved them from Stalin in 1949.
There has been a very strong communist party in Greece for many years.
