Dick Cheney not sold on Sarah Palin presidency
The Christian Science Monitor ^ | February 14, 2010 | Jimmy Orr

Posted on 02/14/2010 10:51:45 AM PST by kingattax

Former Vice President Dick Cheney said he hasn't made up his mind who he will support in the 2012 presidential election. When asked if he thought Sarah Palin was qualified, he punted. ---

Is Sarah Palin qualified to be president? Former Vice President Dick Cheney answered that question with an artful dodge this morning when he appeared on ABC's This Week.(see video below) "I haven't made a decision yet on whom I'm going to support for president next time around," he said to host Jonathan Karl. "Whoever it is is going to have to prove themselves capable of being President of the United States."

"And those tests will come during the course of the campaigns obviously," he continued. "I think all of the prospective candidates out there have a lot of work to do if in fact they are going to persuade a majority of Americans that they are ready to take on the world's toughest job."

You didn't think you'd get a yes or no on that question, did you? Come on

You think Sarah needs your advice? IF she runs, she will KNOW what is BEST!

There is one way to prove Sarah Palin or anyone else is qualified to be the president, go out and earn the nomination.

I don’t see this as not being sold on Sarah at all. I see it more as a slap at Obama than anything- and a rallying call to conservatives.

I agree with you completely, my response was to the poster sho thinks it's because she's a woman.

If Sara does decide to run, one of the biggest obstacles she'll have to overcome is the voters who will shy away from electing another "first"

After all, we're seeing how the "first" black man in office worked out.

Personally, I'm not sold on her yet either plus we still have a long way to go.

I watched Cheney on abc's 'this week.'

Maybe he's holding out for his daughter, Liz, to run.

:)

but I wonder about another critical element of leadership at that level: Knowledge.

You are very much correct, as is Mr. Cheney. Giving a good stump speech and inspiring/exciting core supporters doesn't make you Reagan or Churchill. It makes you Werner Erhard.

Sarah still has time to reposition herself and show intellectual depth and engagement with "hard" issues. So far, she has come up short, and saying so doesn't make you "elitist" (a term historically used by the Left, btw).

There is no reason to an ass about it, I was just voicing my opinion.

You need to stop beating that dead horse.
Resign or not, she has vastly more executive experience than 0bama and Biden combined when they run for the presidency in 2008.
This is a non-issue.
She is still polling at the head or close to the top in every polling for the GOP primary for 2012.

All the excuses about why she resigned are totally totally meaningless from political point of view.

WHO WROTE THOSE RULES? The media, the politicians? LOL!!

Sarah you are one of us - rock on!

"Whoever it is is going to have to prove themselves capable of being President of the United States."

He's right there. And it'll make a refreshing change from obama. ;-) We've been living with on-the-job-training, and obama is a very slow learner and unwilling student. Even worse, he hasn't been smart enough to surround himself with a good, experienced cabinet, they're just as ill-equipped and slow as he is.

Yes, we have a long way to go, what we must carefully
monitor are the attempts by the media to shape our
choice of primary candidates, by biased and manipulative
reporting. It’s why we ended up with McCain.
Thankfully he gave us Palin but there were other
good candidates that never had a chance.

At this point I would ask that you name a specific presidential duty or task that is beyond Palin’s ability, given the alleged lack of knowledge you assign to her.

If you can do it, I congratulate you because despite all their talk, nobody in all the media or anywhere else has been able.

Palin’s resignation enabled her ongoing service to the people in the face of political psychopaths blocking her ability to serve as governor.

Taking the hard way out, she gave up power in the name of doing what was best for the people who elected her.
