Former Vice President Dick Cheney said he hasn't made up his mind who he will support in the 2012 presidential election. When asked if he thought Sarah Palin was qualified, he punted. ---
Is Sarah Palin qualified to be president? Former Vice President Dick Cheney answered that question with an artful dodge this morning when he appeared on ABC's This Week.(see video below) "I haven't made a decision yet on whom I'm going to support for president next time around," he said to host Jonathan Karl. "Whoever it is is going to have to prove themselves capable of being President of the United States."
"And those tests will come during the course of the campaigns obviously," he continued. "I think all of the prospective candidates out there have a lot of work to do if in fact they are going to persuade a majority of Americans that they are ready to take on the world's toughest job."
You didn't think you'd get a yes or no on that question, did you? Come on

Nobody really cares about any forced or artificial gender divisions.
Anointed? That’s lib speak - they did it for the clinton’s - smartest world in the world - and your messiah.
Don’t taint conservatives w/LIB SPEAK!
First of all, it is too early for any of the candidates to be considered worthy. Let them go through the trials of the primary season, see how they stand up, and then lets see. This time four years ago, everyone was talking about Giuliani, remember? He fell by the wayside quickly.
If Palin wants to prove herself, the path is open to her...but it will be a hard slog, and she will be challenged.
you can say that again....it’s always in generalities when dealing with Sarah....
BTW Reagan was polled as being unqualified or something of that sort in the late 70’s and he was a two-termed governor!
Cheney Bump
Absolute nonsense. I don't believe that has anything to do with his answer. Even as someone who likes and admires Sarah Palin, I have my doubts that she can overcome the butchering job the media did on her, in time for 2012. It doesn't matter that she is far more qualified for the office than Mr. Zero ever was or will be. The damage is done, and elections hinge on independents, who for the most part are apolitical and get their news from the mainstream news and late night comedy.
“And why the hell didnt he step aside in 2004 or during Bushs second term so someone else would have a shot at the presidency from the VP catbird seat?”
I wonder about that too, now that you mention it. It sure could have made a difference.
Forget your sarcasm tag?
Me, too.
I think Palin is the best retail politician of the 21st century, so far.
However, I have lingering questions on her qualifications to be CIC.
She shows wisdom, character and good sense on the issues...but I wonder about another critical element of leadership at that level: Knowledge.
Normal MSM sensationalism to use Sarah Palin’s name in a sensationalist way, in an attempt to get free clicks.
I watched the entire interview. All Cheney said was that he hadn't made up his mind about who he was going to support in 2012, and that all the candidates would have to prove themselves before he made a decision.
The Christian Science Monitor might as well have headlined it : “Dick Cheney not sold on Mitt Romney presidency”
Of course Dick Chaney was not going to come out 3 years before an election, and announce he was backing anyone, even before anyone had actually announced they were going to run.
We use it too, c’mon. Be real.
I like Sarah, but I’m not signing on to her candidacy right now.
SHE isn’t signing on to her candidacy. I like hearing her speak, and she is right on OH SO MANY issues. So is Rush Limbaugh, but Rush ain’t running either.
I am all for keeping my options open. I do oppose another McCain run. Same for Huck.
NOT hardly but you certainly need it.
Rock on Sarah - you are exposing them left and right! HiMom!
I think if SP is going to run, she should come out with a major foreign policy speech.
I don’t see how his answer is a slam at Palin. He simply is stating it’s too early to tell and ALL candidates will have to prove themselves during the campaign process. Talk about a misleading headline... okay, a headline that flat out LIES!
Because you can’t decide doesn’t mean the wise needs to wait for you!
Wow. Thanks.
It is always easy for someone to say the right things when all what this someone does is talk.
