We now take you live to a storm within the ranks of America’s weathercasters.
It is a quiet controversy about global warming. At least one local broadcaster had been hoping to keep it quiet.
But after considerable persuasion last week, the Fox affiliate WDAF reluctantly allowed its chief meteorologist, Mike Thompson, to explain in an e-mail to The Kansas City Star why he breaks from the scholarly worldview of the causes of climate change.
“It has become completely political — it’s not about science at all,” he wrote in an e-mail. “If science were the objective, then we would be seeing an entirely different debate. But there are agendas at play, and it has undermined the credibility of climate science.”
Others in his profession share that view.
“Global warming is the greatest scam in history,” blogged a veteran TV weatherman in San Diego, John Coleman, in late 2007. He then appeared on Glenn Beck’s show.
That hardly stunned University of Texas researcher Kris Wilson, who for years has probed the wide range of attitudes, values and skill sets of those beamed into your living room to chat up the weather.
What did surprise Wilson was that 29 percent of meteorologists in a modest survey he conducted took Coleman’s side — “a scam,” they called the scare.
And a clear majority of 121 weathercasters polled — 62 percent — said they thought climate models were unreliable for predicting temperatures and sea levels to come.
It is important to know that meteorologists are not climatologists.

If global warming was true global warming “believers” would not be ripping down hydro-electric dams for any reason.

There is no such thing as a climatologist, only political hacks with a agenda to push who couldn't pass a basic college level science class if their life depended on it.
The “environmental science” degree programs at most colleges are anything BUT science, they are more like “african studies” programs than any real science program.
The title should read, “Scientists,” with the quotes.

Anyone who has studied complex models knows they are dubious at best for predicting anything long term. Even if you tune them to match past trends it doesn’t mean they will be accurate in projecting future trends. If those models were as accurate as some try to trick the public into believing then all kinds of other models including economic models which are monitoring much more simple and clear dynamics would be more accurate also and they are not. Climate scientists are largely government scientists and they come from schools that have a largely far left bent which explains a lot of the bias that is seen. The inherent bias to maintain their government grants and their standing in a community of like minded individuals is what is driving this.
Or, that many meteorologists just stick with science.
"Charlatan" is the appropriate term. Without the quotes.
Well, well...we know that Gore is the biggest scammer of all of them. Wonder when PM Brown is going to be voted out...since he is part of the Gore scam.

The data is crucial to the famous ‘hockey stick graph’ used by climate change advocates to support the theory.
Professor Jones also conceded the possibility that the world was warmer in medieval times than now – suggesting global warming may not be a man-made phenomenon.
And he said that for the past 15 years there has been no ‘statistically significant’ warming.
Criminal indictments should follow. Starting with Dr. Phil Jones, but by no means ending there.

No one with half of a brain can look at even a summary of the history of climate and conditions of our planet and still believe then human beings are causing the global climate to change, in one way or another.
If the planet IS getting warmer, and you wonder why, look up into the sky at that bright white star that we commonly refer to as THE SUN for an explanation.
If anything, people with common sense should welcome warmer climates. It has been during warm periods that life on our planet has thrived. Basically, the entire history of life on our planet has been between ice ages. Life advances between Ice Ages, and is suppressed or nearly non existent during Ice Ages. Those are the facts. Ask any geologist.
Trying to save whatever credibility they have left although they still push the Liberal mantra. They even shaded this one. Thompson is the only forecaster with the fortitude to come right out and call it like it is.
Reading the comments it seems a lot hate him because he is Catholic and therefore must be anti science. I wonder what their FR handles are? :-)

You don't want to throw out the baby with the bathwater. There are plenty of climatologists who are doing good work. So, I wouldn't dismiss them all -- or even -- dismiss a large part of them, either.
Everyone needs to get to be discriminating and understand what they are saying and go with the ones who, first of all, see that the "Anthropogenic Global Warming" model is nothing but "politics" (and not science) and then, secondly, ones who work on models that show other methodologies for how the earth's climate has changed over the centuries and millennia, when mankind did not have the ability, at all, to influence anything.

I'm sure your meteorologist is a scientist, while everyone knows that Al Gore is a politician. And that's why true scientists see right through the false science of "Anthropogenic Global Warming", and why it's a "politician" who is pushing the "politics of Anthropogenic Global Warming" and not dealing with true science.

But, saying that doesn't explain it. It's going to take more than that to "explain" the mechanics of Global Warming and Global Cooling. And there is such a thing as Global Warming, along with Global Cooling. It's just "Anthropogenic Global Warming" that is the false science -- and not "Global Warming" (which is true).
So, to have an explanation for why Global Warming happens and why Global Cooling happens, go to Post #15 and see why. And they do provide the "mechanics" behind it that anyone can understand.
