As much as I dislike Maher, that's not the the point he was trying to make. One needs to watch the video to get the context. I believe he was trying to highlight how he believes the country and it's leaders don't treat our troops well. Folks on the left take Rush out of context all the time. I don't believe we should or need to stoop to that level. The left provides an overabundance of things we can legitimately hammer them on. Once again for the record, I can't stand Bill Maher or most of his beliefs.

I am not interested in watching Bill Maher, rather he's being brilliant or a jerk, so my comment was based on the quote from him. So I wasn't attempting to take his words out of context, I was taking his sentence to mean what he said. Now if you say he had context that changed the meaning of the quote I'll take your word for it.

I was commenting on what he actually said, which with regard to the troops is not disrespectful, other than in its assumption that their greatest desire is to retire in defeat.

I also noted that he probably despises the troops but is unwilling to say so since it’s an unpopular position right now.

If you want to discuss what other liberals have said about our troops, why not find a thread on that subject rather than highjacking this one?
