It’s my understanding that the “300” figure was before we had the ground work laid for military tribunals which is a huge point to leave out of the discussion.
sounds like Aristide, although I have not followed Haitian politics that well, the country had been a disaster case for so long....
Great stuff musicman!!
They market their entire political system w/Green politics.

I remember Aristide, I was curious how he governed as an Alinskiite, or was he just a particularly virulent leftist?
If you go the next step in order for solar to work the left needs $150-$250 oil.
In order for that to happen you would do just what they are doing now, restrict drilling poo poo nuclear--say its O.K. but sue at every turn just like they do every time the oil companies try and drill anywhere or someone wants to build a nuke plant.
Why the hell aren't our politiicos telling everyone else what these Marxists faux greenies are up to!!! Its so apparent!!!
"OIH"
Actually, you cannot complain when Democrats act like...... Democrats. Progressives, liberals, Marxists, socialists, fascists or whatever, they are all collectivists who’s goal is to revolutionize America to their image of utopia.
Our goal is NOT to defeat them, it MUST be to destroy them because if we don’t they will emerge to strike again. Once they lose, it becomes critical to educate voters so stop this from happening again in the future.
ITs here Star and the next post as well.
I wish every Republican in Congress would stand up and repeat what you just said because it shows an understanding of who we are up against.Pure brilliance!
Do you have a link to any of these studies? Just wondering, because last I heard MA has 53 (yes fifty-three) mandated benefits.
I can't find the one I want, but if you go to my second post on the topic (post #276 this thread) you can see how the various states have more or fewer mandates.
I've also read that in MA health insurance costs 42% above the national average; of course, we also have RomneyCare.
If you go to my first post (post #220) and click on the link, you will see Maine's standard rates being at least 100% higher than other states' high risk pool premiums (their highest premiums)
This is a prime example of the destruction wreaked by guaranteed issue and community rating on a health insurance market.
Dont know exactly what you mean by cover nothing
Well, that's a bit of exaggeration on my part, because the unregulated free-market wouldn't pull that stunt, the competition would eat them alive...but what I was referring to is a stripped down catastrophic care policy (which is a perfect companion policy for an HSA)
Also have not heard before that health care cost explosion is a Northeastern problem. Pretty sure that I have understood its not, thats why the Democrats have had a big bill.
No it isn't exclusively, stupid public policy and outrageous premiums are a historic characteristic of NE states except NH which did a mid-course correction and fixed the problem.
Northeastern states enacted portions of HillaryCare back in 1993 or thereabouts when it failed at the national level.
health care cost explosion
Well that is a function of state governments (anywhere) expanding medicaid eligibility and not ponying up to the providers. Maine owes the hospitals something around $400 million. The hospitals raise the costs for procedures to insurance companies and cash paying customers. The carriers have no choice but to raise premiums.
Cost shifting should be illegal, and the states should be made to pay reasonable compensation to the providers instead of pennies on the dollar.
Maine is a microcosm of the effects of destructive liberal "reforms" and a promise of what Obama's Deathcare could mean to Americans in any state.
More research is needed before making claims. For example, one study I read said CA “required” long term disability care which translated into a 60% higher premium than other states. In CO, we “require” both prostrate and mamograms to be covered. Even a bunch of guys working manual labor with no spouses or children are required to have this coverage.
One size fits all does not work and states are correct in opposing it.
Thats what the internet is for. Hopefully we get some candidates not afraid to take on Green Marketing.
Pray for AMerica and Gov Palin
In Maine we have Dirigo...a “public private partnership” utiizing a “nonprofit” insurance carrier...Harvard Pilgrim.
The original intent was to cover the 130,000 plus insured with affordable insurance. They immediately failed at that and I doubt they have more than 10,000 currently insured if that many. The individual-market portion of Dirigo is usually closed due to lack of reserve.
The premiums are among the highest in the nation and they can’t add clients.
Since Harvard Pilgrim administers Dirigo, I’m not sure exactly the Dirigo Health Administration actually does other than add a couple of million dollars to the state budget.
Take this to the national level and times million and I think you can read between the lines.
For another example, see MediCare.
No. That's not the point. The figure is entirely false as Biden portrayed it -- actual "terrorists" tried.
I'm not sure the admin has even documented that figure at all. But in any case you only get there by including any and all cases that are peripherally, and often very distantly, related to terrorism. For instance if somebody was tried for lying about supporting terrorism with a donation to a phony Islamic charity, that is included. If a witness, who wasn't even a principle themselves, was convicted for perjury in a terror related case, that was counted. Etc, etc. Biden, Obama, Holder and others have been pretending this is a figure of "terrorists" tried. It isn't. The real figure, of actual terrorists, is at least a full order of magnitude lower.
IOW, Gregory let Biden lie, unchallenged. He let Biden accuse Cheney of lying, unchallenged.
THEY CAUSED THIS RECESSION. And so far Obama has protected the cprrupt bastards. I say close them both down, and replace them with an organization which is above and beyond political manipulation. They made an affirmative action lending welfare program without an act of Congress, and MADE the banks go along with it..BASTIDS!!!
To think that a compliant press let zero try and get away with this,is beyond belief. And, its not over they may still try putting it together incrementally with the 51 vote.
