Obama names U.S. envoy to Muslim world body

DOHA (Reuters) – U.S. President Barack Obama said on Saturday he was naming a special envoy to a top Islamic body to further Washington's cooperation with the Muslim world.

Obama told a U.S.-Islamic World Forum in the Qatari capital Doha in a recorded video message that he was naming White House official Rashad Hussain as special envoy to the 56-member Organization of the Islamic Conference.

"As an accomplished lawyer and a close and trusted member of my White House staff, Rashad has played a key role in developing the partnerships I called for in Cairo," Obama said.

In a speech in Cairo last June, Obama called for a "new beginning" in ties between the United States and Muslims, many of whom felt targeted by the "war on terror" launched by President George W. Bush after the September 11, 2001 attacks, and by the wars in Afghanistan and Iraq.

"Since then, my administration has made a sustained effort to listen. We've held thousands of events and town halls ...in the United States and around the world ... And I look forward to continuing the dialogue during my visit to Indonesia next month," Obama said.

Obama told Muslims in his June 4 speech in Cairo that violent extremists had exploited tensions between Muslims and the West and that Islam was not part of the problem.

His speech was welcomed by many Muslims, though some said they wanted him to spell out specific actions to resolve long-running problems like the Palestinian-Israeli conflict.

Who told you that Islam was not part of the problem?

One of your chickens coming home to roost?

I thought it was illegal to promote one religion over another under the Constitution. Did he appoint an envoy to the Baptist Convention, or to Scientology?

Constitution - please read and comply.

Don’t send somebody to represent the 90% of Americans that are Christian, no send someone that represents the <1% that are Mooslim.

Ping, this guy is setting our country up, I have the perfect envoy for the farce of Islam, when he returns Jesus would be glad to show them the way to Mo_ham_mad, it leads to the pit.. Furthur negotiations can continue there with the pit leader, but there will be no Heavenly envoy present.
The pit leader as now doesn’t give a rats butt about what you want, he just wants your soul to share his misery.
Sound like what is going on in the world to you? Equal misery for all..Got Jesus?

"I thought it was illegal to promote one religion over another under the Constitution"

But also, the framers' intent was to allow free expression of Christianity & Judaism, not to allow Mohammedism to sink its evil teeth into America.

"How dreadful are the curses which Mohammedanism lays on its votaries! Besides the fanatical frenzy, which is as dangerous in a man as hydrophobia in a dog, there is this fearful fatalistic apathy. Improvident habits, slovenly systems of agriculture, sluggish methods of commerce, and insecurity of property exist wherever the followers of the prophet rule or live. A degraded sensualism deprives this life of its grace and refinement; the next of its dignity and sanctity. The fact that in Mohammedan law every woman must belong to some man as his absolute property - either as a child, a wife, or a concubine - must delay the final extinction of slavery until the faith of Islam has ceased to be a great power among men. Individual Moslems may show splendid qualities. Thousands become the brave and loyal soldiers of the Queen: all know how to die. But the influence of the religion paralyses the social development of those who follow it. No stronger retrograde force exists in the world." Winston Churchill, 1899

Ah ha! This would explain why the bust of Churchill was promptly removed from the White Hut and sent parcel post back to England on the first day of the light-skinned president’s service. Well, if we stick around long enough it all starts to fit, doesn’t it.

Further proof that he only enemies this president sees are white conservative Americans.

A while back I inquired about Churchill — here is one of his quotes about Islam.

Churchil also ran for parliament under the ANTI-SOCIALIST banner, and won, before being asked to rejoin the conservatives.

“...special envoy to the 56-member Organization of the Islamic Conference.”

56 -member org? Some sites list the Palestinian Authority as the 57th ... and Obama often makes reference to our “57” states... Something isn’t right here. Of course we already know that, don’t we?

More on envoy.

Mr. Hussain most recently served in the US Department of Justice and has a stellar academic and professional record.

His parents are naturalized citizens from India and live in Plano, Texas.

Elected to Phi Beta Kappa, he holds bachelor’s degrees with highest distinction in both philosophy and political science from the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill, which he completed in two years.

He received highest honors for his philosophy thesis, “Assessing the Theistic Implications of Big Bang Cosmological Theory.” Hussain also holds an MA from Harvard University in Near Eastern languages and civilizations. He finds his heritage central to his identity as a Muslim American and his career goals, especially in light of events in recent history.

He has worked extensively on Capitol Hill, both as an intern in the office of former House Democratic Leader Richard Gephardt during the summer of 2000 and as a legislative aide on the House Judiciary Committee, where he worked for a year and a half between his time at Harvard University and Yale University.

Mr. Hussain recently served as a Trial Attorney at the U.S. Department of Justice. Prior to that, he was as a Law Clerk to Damon J. Keith on the U.S.
Court of Appeals for the Sixth Circuit. Earlier in his career, Mr. Hussain served as a legislative assistant on the House Judiciary Committee, where he reviewed legislation such as the USA Patriot Act. Mr. Hussain earned his bachelor’s degree from the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill, his Master’s degree in Public Administration and in Arabic & Islamic Studies from Harvard University, and his J.D. from Yale Law School, where he served as an editor of the Yale Law Journal.

Here's an idea. How about we confine our "out reach" to those Muslims who DON'T view America's active liberation of 50 million Muslims from overtly fascistic tyranny as a bad thing, and tell the rest to go abuse a goat?

We've got thousands of good, red neck, salt of the earth, whiskey drinkin', cigar smoking, pork eatin' Paki and Indian Muslims here in Texas. Why not send one of them?
