Superior Swedish Sub Sinks American Nuclear Subs & Aircraft Carrier, USS Reagan (Video)
YouTube ^ | 12/12/10 | Chuck Henry

Posted on 02/12/2010 10:48:29 PM PST by OneVike

Ever since WWII, America has been a dominant force upon the high seas. We have become so advanced in our military technology that the Soviet Union eventually collapsed, in large part because Ronald Reagan would not back down against them. In honor of his accomplishments and great leadership, congress named the worlds largest aircraft carrier after him, the USS Ronald Reagan. Well it has been 22 years since Reagan left office, and while we have been able to hold our status as the worlds most powerful military the world has ever seen, those days could be coming to an end.

Thanks in large part to the anti military sentiment that prevails in Washington, from both sides of the isle, America is losing the war of technical advancement. What you will see in this video is a submarine from Sweden the, NemoSaltadSobrius, that cannot be detected, and even worse it has repeatedly sunk our best and most powerful naval ships in mock war games. Check out this report out of San Diego by Chuck Henry, who reports that America is attempting to figure out how to catch in before our enemies discover the secret of its elusiveness.

Follow this link to see the video about the Swedish sub that could be the end America's domination of the
high seas. The Swedish sub "NemoSaltadSobrius" beats us in ever war game we played against it.

I am sure China is working on other surprises as well. With that new underground base in operation on Hainan Island, we are now denied overheads, so we do not even know how many hulls are in there.

Who needs a fly over, if that's what you mean, when we have satellites that can read the writing on a dime?

The good news is...I think we know it is bad, otherwise the US Navy wouldn’t be fiddling around with Swedish submarines...

And that my friend is why I found this whole report so interesting. At least we still have some Brass that understands the need to keep vigilant.

The million dollar question should be,
"Will they still feel that way after Obama has had enough time to force them into
retirement and replace them with socialist, Muslim loving retards"?

Perhaps the mighty carrier is to be replaced by the submarine as the terror of the seven seas.

Pour ink in the water. It makes the windows useless.

"...With that new underground base in operation on Hainan Island..."

Good grief. I forgot about that one...I hope the Chinese have other plans to support their subs if hostilities start...a few well placed penetrators would make ingress and egress tough...

Thanks for your reasoned dialogue. It gets a little crazy on these threads, because people do get worked up, both the ones who think we are doomed, and the ones who think nothing bad can happen to us. We all just need to keep a steady strain.

In my opinion, we are still carrier centered because air power still rules, and that isn't going to change for a while.

Our training and maintenance goes a long way to make up for the shortcomings of having all F-18's and nothing else, but not all the way. The Navy better hope the F-35 pans out, because in another 10-15 years, our adversaries are going to have aircraft in their inventories that, in order to win, won't require great pilots, training and maintenance if they are going up against Hornets. The F-22 against F-15 is widely known to be a completely unfair fight, to both winner and loser. The Russians and the Chinese will begin to design and manufacture aircraft that may not be as good as an F-22, but will be cheaper, and they will have no problem selling them to countries for cold cash.

The world is going to be an interesting place in the next twenty years, beginning today.

And seapower, both surface and submarine, is more important than ever. I do think it is kind of funny...there are always people who say "We don't need no stinkin' Navy..." and they have no idea how wrong they are.

Doh.... underground. As in, ya know... NOT VISIBLE? The sub pen is built into the side of a mountain. Ground penetration satellites do not see through rock THAT well.

No it is not a hoax. It is the most quiet submarine ever produced. I was stationed on the most quiet nuke boat we ever made. This designed needs to be copied soon.

I just do not know how much damage this Asshole-In-Chief will be able to do to our country before he gets consigned to the dustbin of history with Carter.

I do believe he and his associates are deliberately trying to destroy both our independent economy and our military. They wish to remake them in their own image, and that isn't yours (I am pretty sure) nor mine.

By hobbling and destroying our economy, that also prevents us from having a well trained, well equipped military. For Obama and Friends, that is a Two-Fer.

Who told you it is the most quiet submarine ever produced? Are you telling me that the Swedes who spend few billions on defense a year have produced a quieter submarine than our military which the mightiest one in history of mankind?

As I said this whole story is silly and in a real world scenario this sub will be gone long before it can do any harm.

Good grief. I forgot about that one...I hope the Chinese have other plans to support their subs if hostilities start...a few well placed penetrators would make ingress and egress tough...

That is something that I am sure they have considered. They are not dumb.

for your reasoned dialogue. It gets a little crazy on these threads, because people do get worked up, both the ones who think we are doomed, and the ones who think nothing bad can happen to us. We all just need to keep a steady strain.

Likewise. I really enjoy threads like this because there is always something I didn't know or understood poorly that gets clarified. I do, however, get exasperated when some folks scoff at our potential adversaries and strut around (figuratively) with their balls clicking and bellowing how great our Navy is and how easy it would be to trash the bad guys. That is the mindset that gave us Pearl Harbor.

In my opinion, we are still carrier centered because air still rules, and that isn't going to change for a while.

I also tend to agree there, but I would like to see more variation in the platforms. Super carriers are super cool, but their sheer size and expense means they will always be limited in number. The Russian STOBAR concept needs a serious look as does the F-35 STOVL variant. If we could get three hulls for the price of one super carrier, even with reduced air wings, it would give the Navy a greater degree of flexibility than they have now.

The Russians and the Chinese will begin to design and manufacture aircraft that may not be as good as an F-22, but will be cheaper, and they will have no problem selling them to countries for cold cash.

We should have never given up the S-3. That was one of the dumbest mistakes we have made in the years since the Cold War ended. We NEED a fixed wing, carrier capable ASW platform. As for the F-35, I hope as much as you do that the program works out.

The world is going to be an interesting place in the next twenty years, beginning today. And seapower, both surface and submarine, is more important than ever. I do think it is kind of funny...there are always people who say "We don't need no stinkin' Navy..." and they have no idea how wrong they are.

Amen, and amen.

You don't need to a sink a carrier to neutralize it. All you need to do is to make flight op difficult. Take out a screw and rudder and flight operations become harder.
Of course China has a second approach, using ICBMs with conventional warheads.

LOL...I didn’t want to specifically name the S-3 (or the P-3), but that was foremost in my mind as I wrote that.

I thought the Viking was a magnificent aircraft, and good at what it did, too.

She sure was. I also miss the Toms and will always bear a grudge against Cheney for blocking the Bombcat. I am not comfortable with the F-18 as our only fixed wing carrier bird, and you obviously are not either.

Just how hard would it be to recommission those S-3s?

The Vikings control the seas (extreme sarcasm). Get real. It is a totally insignificant war game. This sub will be long gone if it goes in a real fight with the US Navy.

What are your credentials, JV, to enable you to make such cavalier statements? I doubt you have any background or real knowledge of either submarine or anti-submarine operations, based on your statements so far.

I am a US Navy submarine vet, and keep up on developments in both areas. Trust me, the USN wouldn't have spent the money to bring the Swedish boat over to San Diego if they felt we were so damn invincible. Facts are that diesel-electric and AIP (air-independent propulsion) boats are harder to detect than other nuke boats and carry a weapons suite just as deadly. Yeah, they don't have the top speed and legs that our boats have ... but if they're around where and when we go into harm's way, it could be dicey for our side indeed.

I've been out to to the bone yard at Davis-Monthan, and it blew me away. All those planes, rows of Tomcats and even a slew of F-18's. On the tour, they talk about how they mothball them. I think they could unmothball a few pretty quickly.

When I went to the Pima Air Museum in Tucson just a few years ago, I saw an A-7 Corsair...so I said to my wife "Hey look...it is one of the kinds of planes I worked on..."

As I got closer, I stopped, and saw my old squadron insignia for the VA-46 Clansmen! Then, when I looked at the side number, it was one that I had actually been the plane captain for.

Just amazing. What are the odds on that?
