President Obama says he is now "agnostic" about raising taxes on households making under $250,000 a year to help cut budget deficits, signaling a possible retreat from a campaign pledge.
In an interview with Bloomberg BusinessWeek on newsstands Friday, Obama said a presidential budget commission needs to look at all options for deficit reduction - including tax increases and cuts in spending on such programs as Social Security and Medicare.
"The whole point of it is to make sure that all ideas are on the table," Obama said. "So what I want to do is to be completely agnostic, in terms of solutions."
Obama repeatedly vowed during the 2008 campaign to spare households earning less than $250,000 a year from tax increases.

That was mac daddies way of saying lie and more lies.
Retreat, he’s good at that.
How dare he waste all that tax revenue, and then go back for more! Infamous! Infamous!
50/50.
Obama on September 12, 2008 in Dover, New Hampshire: I can make a firm pledge. Under my plan, no family making less than $250,000 a year will see any form of tax increase. Not your income tax, not your payroll tax, not your capital gains taxes, not any of your taxes.
Obama in February 2010: “The whole point of it is to make sure that all ideas are on the table. So what I want to do is to be completely agnostic, in terms of solutions.”
when is this family going to find a church too, or can’t the so called journalists actually ask that like so many other questions
Yes, “agnostic” is surely a strange choice of words, but he’s a strange thing.
“So what I want to do is to be completely agnostic, in terms of solutions.”
Translation: “I have known all along I was going to tax you suckers, but Chris Matthews, Olberman and Maddow along with the rest of the useful idiots in the MSM have been so far in the tank for me, that I could lie about it and not get caught. Now I can take the professorial approach with this crazy “agnostic” BS and I’ll bet you that the MSM will reward me with a story about how I’m not an idealogue and am looking for thoughtful approaches to this deficit...which I inherited from George Bush and Dick Cheney, because as you all know, there were no deficits before George Bush took office. Hahaha. Rahm is right, as long as I have the media in my back pocket, I can feed you anything.”
Looks like Obama is finding that the air is a bit thin at $250k...and is realizing, as EVERY other president has realized, that if you want to raise taxes to increase federal revenue, you MUST do it on the middle class. But don’t worry, as big as the increases will be when Bush’s cuts expire (and they will be HUGE, people have no clue), the REALLY BIG taxes will be a per-mile tax on driving (which serves a double-purpose by creating a database of where EVERYONE drives), and a Value-Added Tax.
All of these taxes will be imposed by the IMF, as part of their agreement to give us loans to buy food and toilet paper, once the dollar crashes (in several months).
Keep it up and this will be the never ending recession.
This is Obama’s “No new taxes”. It’s a huge deal, even though Dims are not usually held accountable for lies.
Can’t wait to hear all about this on the Sunday shows!
How’s that hope and ch. . . oh, never mind.
If he does this he is FINISHED.
It will be worse than H.W. Bushes no new taxes pledge, because of Joe the Plumber.
We should poke him with a 10 foot pole.
That’s what happens when you elect a Marxist Democrat Community Organizer as POTUS.
Next thing you'll tell us; he's gonna make his tax increases retroactive to 2008.
Shocked I tell you - SHOCKED!
He was not like this on the health-care bill. His way was the only way. But when it comes to raising taxes, he is singing a different tune. The rats have never met a tax increase they did not like, never.
The democrats believe that any money that you are able to keep, after paying the mandated taxes, and also that which is beyond what is absolutely necessary just for you to survive on and nothing more, is a complete waste of extra government tax revenues.
Joe Wilson had him pegged right!
