(CNSNews.com) In September, President Barack Obama told a joint session of Congress that his administration would look into tort reform as a means of lowering health care costs, but the administrations Department of Health and Human Services stated in congressional staff report that medical malpractice reform is not a priority.

Issa knows what he wants to ask the president at the Feb. 25 bipartisan conference.
The first question I have for President Obama is if he still stands by his call for tort reform or was he just lying to Congress when he directed Secretary [Kathleen] Sebelius to pursue an initiative addressing the costs of defensive medicine, Issa said in a statement Monday.

Hey Obama!
YOU LIE
“Issa is the ranking member of the House Oversight and Government Reform Committee, which released a study last week showing that tort reform such as capping non-economic damages could save as much as $210 billion per year in medical costs. The report showed the impact lawsuits are having on doctors particularly OBGYNs and also how capping rewards have reduced medical costs in California, Texas and Georgia.”
$210 billion - hey bambi - you’d better care!
There will be no real easing of the health care burden upon Americans without significant cost reduction measures including tort reform. Are the Democrats that unfeeling about the burdens on ordinary working Americans? Do they think more of their benefactors among the trial lawyers than the people of America? People are dying because of the lack of health insurance yet it seems than many Democrats are more concerned with the well-being of the bank accounts of fat cat lawyers.
Did his lips move?
“YOU LIE”
Right! Only now we’re able to say it aloud among more polite company...
“Do they think more of their benefactors among the trial lawyers than the people of America? People are dying because of the lack of health insurance yet it seems than many Democrats are more concerned with the well-being of the bank accounts of fat cat lawyers.”
Bingo. And we need to nail this point home in every conversation we have about true health care reform. We can drive a wedge between the RATs and (their) lawyers.
Actually that brings me to an immutable law of political nature:
RATS = Lawyers = RATS
"Does Elmer Fudd have trouble with the letter 'R'?"
Oh, I’m sure he looked into it. Maybe for 3-4 seconds.
Issa is the reason I cannot get on the “Just vote them [incumbents] out” bandwagon.
He’s my congressman.
I could not bring myself to vote him out.
repost:
Honestly, someone should come out with a $100 challenge:
Find me one statement that 0bama has made since, say July, 2008, and now.
That he has not directly contradicted.
You find me one single statement this SOB has made where he has not at some other point come out and said EXACTLY the opposite.
Anyone making that challenge could expect not to have to pay out more than $300.
“it is about control of lives and not improvement of healthcare/insurance access.”
Right. Here they have a $200 Billion/year savings, and they’re simply going to hope they can sweep it under the rug? And why? Political expediency. And more to the point - they aren’t doing health care for us...
“Medicine is the keystone in the arch of socialism.
Vladamir Lenin
Just getting John Edwards out of the courtroom probably made a measurable dent in health care costs...
You're kidding. Right?
