He was in the House not the senate, so there will be a special election.

He was a representative. I think Gov Rendell (D) names his replacement until a special election is held?

Now, what are the implications for sitting a new senator in PA...They'll probably have a special election for this House seat. I don't think they'll want to let it vacant for 11 months.

Murtha was a Representative in the House, not a Senator.

Murtha was in the House of Representatives. I think, as he was up for re-election this cycle, that our Guv, Fast Eddie Rendell will get to select an interim replacement.
My sympathies to J-Town. Honest. W/o Murtha bringing home the pork, the sidewalks will roll up. A lot of military/tech work there (that he brought to the Valley).

Murtha was a Representative, not a senator. ObaMao carried his district by only a couple of percentage points.

Correction to my post #380. Kerry carried the district by only a couple of percentage points in 2004. It was the only congressional district in the country that flipped from jackass to Republican in 2008, also by the narrowest of margins.
