Other Texas Governor Race info:

Palin fires up thousands for Perry

In what looked more like a presidential rally than a gubernatorial one — there was confetti and rock music and a slew of television cameras — Palin followed the course that Perry has set throughout his campaign by repeatedly bashing Washington but never saying Hutchison's name......

Judith Simon of Katy, who wore a pink "Palin Power" T-shirt, said she finds the former governor authentic. "When I listen to Sarah Palin, I hear truth and sincerity coming through her. When you're used to hearing the truth, you recognize the truth."

Simon also said she supports Perry. But her husband, James, a fellow Palin fan, said he would not back Perry because he believes Perry allowed the state to execute an innocent man. ........ end excerpts

Bill White gets Democratic endorsement-American Statesman

....."I'm not perfect," White told the American-Statesman editorial board. "I'm not as mediagenic as some. But I do know how to bring people together to get things done. I do know how to do that. That's what Texas needs right now. There was a day in Texas — and it did exist and I was here — when the leadership was more bipartisan in its approach to state problems." ...... end excerpt

So replace my property taxes (which I am able to deduct on my federal tax returns) with even more sales taxes which after this year I will not be able to deduct on my federal tax returns. Bottom line, this proposal doesn’t reduce my taxes but rather shifts them from one form to another (and one that is a bit more hidden and thus more easily raised by politicians), and in so doing cause me to have a higher federal tax bill.

Gee, where can I sign up for this brilliant plan?

End the government schools supported by property taxes and you could end property taxes and have a lower sales tax rate increase.

“We've surrendered private property ownership to the ever-growing state — we lease our property in the form of ever increasing rents known as property taxes,” she wrote on her campaign Web site. “We've forgotten that ownership is an essential element of freedom.”

I am all for this. It's immoral that you never own your own property. You may pay off the bank, but the tax man keeps coming.

The economic BOOM this would cause has not been discussed. Only government cry babies wondering where their next dollar will come from. Correction: my next dollar.

Applying the sales tax to real estate? So you go buy a $250K home and pay 9% sales tax? Yeah - that’s real good for the housing market...

Got to agree with this statement. Property taxes, however legal they are, should all be eliminated. We shouldn't have to pay tribute to a government in order to live in our own homes or face losing them in our old age because we can no longer afford the property tax on them.

While this is going to cost me more in the long run, it is the right thing to do and why I will be voting for her this march. BUMP!
