Jeri Thompson blasted Fox News host Chris Wallace on the Fred Thompson show today, calling his joke that he hoped Sarah Palin would sit on his lap during an interview with him "inappropriate" and "insipid," and demanding "action from Fox.
Thompson, the wife of the former senator and presidential candidate, told POLITICO's Jonathan Martin that the remark, to Fox Business's Don Imus, amounted to misogyny, and that she was tired of seeing it from "these dirty old men" on Fox, a network that she said ought to be respectful of conservative women.
"Sarah Palin is now part of the Fox family," Thompson said on the show. "She deserves you all watching her back -- and I do not mean it literally."
Wallace, she said, "owes her an apology."
"Not only is she a national figure she deserves the respect that any other man would get in that situation," Thompson said, saying that her inbox was full of complaints from conservative women over the segment, and that the Palin group Team Sarah, as well as the anti-abortion Susan B. Anthony List, were dismayed by the segment.
"I hope that Fox does something about this, and they actually take this on, because it is not funny," Thompson said.

I'm really starting to not like this type of hypersensitivity coming from our side. We should not seek to emulate the left in this regard. Sometimes a joke should just be left as a joke.
I always had thought Wallace had a thing for dark movie theaters frequented by only men. Guess I was wrong.
I’m with Wallace on this one.
This hypersensitivity coming from so called conservatives is really disappointing. I thought we were the party of the stiff upper lip.
I like Jeri’s tude. She puts up with zilch.
Personally, I’d love to have Jeri Thompson sit on my lap! LOL
Yes—but it plays into the bimbo stereotype too.
(Then again, I could almost imagine Baba Walters guffawing that she hoped she could sit in Scott Brown’s lap...)
I agree with Jeri.
Chris should apologize and simply admit that his “joke” was bad, and that he only meant to convey that he finds Palin to be an attractive woman. If I was him I’d do it fast. For one thing, Todd Palin might look him up and punch him in the face.
I think the comment by Wallace was extremely inappropriate.
I have to admit, the stupid adolescent (mostly male) humor on Fox is just something I put up with because the alternative networks are far worse. But, I would love to have a grown up/conservative news station. However, Wallace’s comment was pretty mild. He also seemed a little sheepish about it.
I didn't know Don Imus was still alive.
Ba da boom. But, seriously, folks...
And if a male executive publicly said the same about a female executive in a business context, would you think that appropriate too?
Not to mention a sense of humor.
It bothers me because she is a happily-married mother of five, and Wallace knows it.
He ought to apologize for such a seedy, greasy sense of humor.
I agree. GOP women like being attractive and don’t mind people noticing.
If it was on the Imus show not enough people saw it to matter much.
Couldn't you have posted a warning or put some sort of filter over those pics? By filter, I mean a burlap sack?
