Breitbart Busts Birther at Tea Party Confab

by Charles Cooper
Attending the Tea Party Convention in Nashville this weekend, The Washington Independent's always-excellent David Weigel recounts an extraordinary hallway confrontation between online publisher Andrew Breitbart and WorldNetDaily Editor-in-Chief Joseph Farah over the question of President Obama's citizenship.

*snip*

"Prove your case."

"I should prove, what, a birth certificate that may or may not exist?" Farah had gotten irritated. "That’s ridiculous. You don’t even understand the fundamental tenets of what journalism is about, Andrew. It’s not about proving things. It’s about asking questions and seeking truth."

Breitbart tensed up after that insult. "Right."

"I know you’re not a journalist, so that’s fine. But don’t diminish people who’ve been doing this for 35 years."

"So you’re going to go on record saying that I’m not a journalist?"

"Are you? I’ve never heard you claim to be. Are you?"

"I’ll let it be answered by you."

"Well, I knew [Matt]Drudge didn’t consider himself a journalist, so I assumed that you were. … I don’t know, I’m not trying to insult you."

"You did."

If the goal is to defeat Hussein’s agenda,
^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^

I would bet my entire 401K that those who are passionate about the natural born clause of the Constitution are also the **hardest** and most effective workers when it comes to defeating Hussein's agenda.

Birthers are fully capable of multi-tasking.

It definitely is not a winning issue by the vast majority of Americans.
^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^

The polls show that it is **one** issue among others about which Americans have an opinion.

If it weren't then 60% of Republicans, 50% or more in some states, even 30% in blue state California believe that Obama was not born in the U.S. and/or have serious questions about his natural born status.

When Obama tells us ( himself) not to question his citizenship then we ***absolutely!** should be doing exactly that!!!! Obama is like that Uncle Remus story of the “Tar Baby”.

We’re getting a little off track here, but stopping socialism is a goal that can only be accomplished by ending government schools. -
^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^

YES! YES! YES!

For years I have been on the message board preaching that government schools must be shut down!!!

I am very very very grateful that Farah mentioned government schools in his speech to the Tea Party. Too many conservatives simply don't “get it”. The are busy hacking away at the trees ( individual bills in congress) and fail to understand that the government schools are growing the forest they are fighting.

Marxism is our nation's most serious threat. Schools are the Marxist's **MOST** important and powerful weapon!

I hope more and more people wake up to this. The NEA claims to be “non-partisan” but it has supported every Democratic Party presidential nominee since Carter, but never endorsed any Republican or third party candidate.

The “standards” are set by liberals, and have gotten beyond the basics to beliefs, attitudes, indoctrination. The newest MO is the rewriting of history.

In short, the school systems are growing good little socialists. My husband went to public schools and said it was there in the 70s and 80s but nothing like now.

My opinion is they need to get rid of the NEA, and leave education choices to states or individual school districts. Until then, parents need to be involved in their schools and/or homeschool (our choice). If you can’t homeschool, at least have conservative history and science books on hand to counter inaccuracies they receive in school.

Sorry, but wanted to chime in too, now back to your regularly scheduled topic...

I s’pose. OTOH, I’ll choose to fight battles that are winnable.

Like I said, Joe Average doesn’t give a crap about this now. He DOES care about his health care.

Good luck with getting them to care the birther question. You’ll fail.

Well I was civil and a little humorous, and you were posting demeaning comments to me.

I just posted a thread from the internet

You posted to me first with a dig at Breitbart

I called you on it, with NO insults or digs.

In fact, I never insulted you or returned your little digs except as c/p

My opinion is they need to get rid of the NEA, and leave education choices to states or individual school districts.
^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^

The entire system needs to be privatized and gradually parents should take on the full responsibility of educating their own children with charity paying for the poor. In my state the average ( from most expensive to the least expensive church-based schools) is about $4,000. This is not much more than the cost of babysitting, so really large portions of middle class families can afford to educate their own children.

Of course along with parents taking over the educating of their own children, **everyone** ( parents included) would get a hefty property and sale tax reduction. That tax deduction would help to cover the cost of tuition for the parents.

Simply having district control will not solve the problem. Why?

Reason: Simply by attending government schools children learn that they government has the power to threaten their neighbor to take money to pay for schooling their parents want tuition-FREE! That is **socialism**!!!

Children learn to be socialists just by attending!!! ( regardless of the curriculum!) If the government can take money from their neighbor for tuition-”free” school why not a thousand other socialist wants and needs?

Another reason government schools must be shut down is that teacher education and textbook development has **always** been in the control of the Utopian progressives. This has been true since the minute the first compulsory government school opened in the mid-1800s. It has been a “progressive” ( as in rampant cancer) since today.

Within one to three generations of government schooling ( my great grandparents, grandparents, and my parents) we had:

**the IRS
**direct election of Senators
**Unions
** the feminist movement
** the federal reserve
** FDR elected FOUR terms with his New Deal
** Johnson's Great Society
** the abolishment of the gold standard
** and thousands of socialist offices and programs

All of the above is due to the fact that children were made to feel comfortable with taking their neighbor's money by attending socialist-funded government schools.

Finally...There is no such thing as a religiously neutral school. It is impossible. And... All government schools treat children ( who have committed no crime) like prisoners. All government schools trash every First Amendment human right and teach children to be good little prisoners of the fascist state.

Polls show that they know about it and have formed an opinion. It is likely one among many issues that will influence voting later.

And...The birthers are likely among the most vigorous and effective in fighting for the issues **you** deeply favor. They are likely your **best** and most effective allies.

I posted to the first post on the thread not you specifically as is extremely common.

I called you on it, with NO insults or digs.

Not even close to true.

If you want to think that it is your prerogative. But the postings show otherwise.

I agree with you completely - privatization would be better than any of the choices I proposed...

Not only would the education be better, but educational money better spent. Case in point, my homeschooled kids are getting a top notch education for less than $2k/year(that’s including all texts, labs, clubs, sports programs that plays other schools and supplies). A good private school education around me costs average of $6,000 a year. Public schools allocate $12,000 a year. And the teachers I know sure aren’t seeing much of that

Guess which groups actually do best on tests.

Go figure!

Amazing you are so unable to see clearly our exchanges

The posts show the opposite of what you are claiming.

I looked at all of them, and challenged you to come up with any way I insulted you.

You didn't

Post them or accept that you were the insulter, not the insultee.

Like I said, it didn't bother me.

I only posted about it as you have tried to sluff off your being the one with the digs, not me.

You birthers have no sense of humor!

LOL

It amazes me how good conservatives use leftist tactics of twisting obvious truth to their favor falsely when they become birthers.

Well not all.

I've had several rather positive exchanges with most of the posters on this thread

you keep saying polls show this is a winning issue. i do not think that is the case.

i do agree with you that birthers are people i would agree with on the issues generally. they are definitely good people, they’re just obsessed with this hobby horse that isn’t really winnable. that’s all...it isn’t a slam or even a doubt that there are valid questions.

but it is a case of ‘realpolitik’: a dog that won’t hunt with the public in general.

you keep saying polls show this is a winning issue.
^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^

I have never used the expression “winning issue”.

It is an issue that may have influence ( among many at the polls). The polls **do** show that people do know about and have formed an opinion that Obama is not born in the U.S. or they have questions about his eligibility.

If for some reason the Repubs take the House or Senate they have the legal means to force Obama to release his documents. ( Personally, I doubt that they have the testosterone to do that.) Those documents could ( maybe) result in Obama’s eventually being thrown out of office and possibly jailed.

As for “obsessed”: What proof do you have they are “obsessed”?

I see nearly **all** of the birthers posting on other conservatives issues. I also see them posting about their Tea Party trips, demonstrations, and meetings.

As I see it they are multi-tasking very well and are among **YOUR** most effective and hard working allies for the issues **YOU** care about. That is...**if** you are really a conservative and not a DOJ paid troll. ( I am giving you the benefit of doubt on that point.)\

Also...If this is SOOOOOOO unimportant why are you wasting **YOUR** time on these threads? Don't you have much more important work to be doing?

Finally if Obama tells us not to question something they we ABSOLUTELY should do EXACTLY THAT! He said not to question his citizenship! Well...He is like the Uncle Remus story about the tar baby.

( Caps and asterisks for emphasis only. Tonight I don't feel like using HTML.)

LOL, love the run spot run example...I read that book!

Traditionally, the longest sentence in English Literature has been said to be a sentence in Ullyses by James Joyce, which clocks in at 4,391 words. Past editions of The Guinness Book of World Records have listed this record.

However, Joyce's record has recently been surpassed. Jonathan Coe's The Rotters Club, published in 2001, contains a sentence with 13,955 words. I believe he currently holds the record in "English Literature." I never finished reading the classics, I stopped a bit into the long sentence.

And I thought some of the Apostle Paul's sentences were long, but they only topped 150 words or so!
