Report: Patrick Kennedy calls Brown's candidacy a ‘joke’
Boston Globe ^ | February 5, 2010

Posted on 02/05/2010 9:40:18 AM PST by reaganaut1

The son of the late US Senator Edward M. Kennedy has criticized Senator Scott Brown for accelerating his swearing-in, saying it showed Brown's candidacy was "a joke," a publication that covers Capitol Hill reports.

Representative Patrick Kennedy, a Democrat from Rhode Island whose father held Brown's seat for 47 years until his death last year, said Thursday that "Brown's whole candidacy was shown to be a joke today when he was sworn in early in order to cast his first vote as an objection to Obama's appointment to the NLRB," according to The Hill's Blog Briefing Room. "Senator Brown is eager to start working on behalf of Massachusetts families on policies that will create jobs and help the economy. He won't be sidetracked by negative partisan attacks that do nothing to help Massachusetts families find work," said Felix Browne, a Brown spokesman.

A spokeswoman for Kennedy didn't immediately return messages seeking comment.

Brown abruptly announced Wednesday that he wanted to be sworn in Thursday, a week earlier than the Feb. 11 swearing-in his campaign had been planning. Brown has said he wanted to start working immediately on urgent issues, but there has been plenty of speculation about exactly why he made the move.

Brown declined to say Thursday whether he would participate in a Republican filibuster of the Obama administration nominee, union lawyer Craig Becker, to the National Labor Relations Board, which brokers disputes between employers and unions. Becker's nomination could come up as early as Monday, possibly providing Brown his first chance to join Republicans in blocking a Democratic proposal.

Kennedy told The Hill that Brown had gotten strong support from labor households and his first vote would be "the most anti-labor, the most anti-what his constituents thought they were voting for when they voted for him."

>>sworn in early

NOT. Two prior seatings of Senators were enabled in 24 and 48 hours.

Scott waited a week. Wasn’t abrupt as the Glob puts it.

No, Patches. The joke was when your father appealed to the MA legislature and governor to overturn a 4-year-old law that stipulated an election MUST be held to seat a senator. The OTHER joke is any reference to YOUR family as being relevant anymore. HA!!!

If I see Patrick Kennedy in a Bar should I buy him a drink? or, should I say ‘you have a drinking problem you shouldn’t be in a bar.’

Buy him stiff drinks. Lots of them. I wouldn't recommend that if he weren't such an insufferable little turd.

Like just about every other male in the Kennedy Family, Patrick Kennedy won't leave this Earth in a normal manner. That's at least some consolation.

I admit that it's a bit of a morbid pleasure in waiting to find out how it will occur.

If we're running a death pool here, I'm going to guess 'Being electrocuted after falling off his yacht goofed up on Oxycontin and whiskey while simultaneously being ripped to pieces by sharks'.

That would beat 'Knocking your head off while skiing through a forest and playing football' by a mile.

That's not fair.

Patrick Kennedy probably hasn't murdered any of the women he had affairs with.

Yes, but it’s hard to imagine people in RI being to carry on their lives without Patches there to patch things up for them when they stumble.

So Patrick Kennedy has decided to engage in mudslinging against Scott Brown. He ought to ask Martha Coakley how that approach worked out for her.

The people spoke when they elected Scott Brown over Martha Coakley. The libs, such as you, will have to deal with it.

Are you talkin' to me?
