There's always someone around who imagines that federal employees do nothing all day and still get paid.

That's always been my impression of the source of the complaint.

“There’s always someone around who imagines that federal employees do nothing all day and still get paid.”

Probably formed by those who have ever walked into a gubmint office ANYWHERE.

My brother was hired on to one of the fed bureaucracies in DC for a few years. His descriptions of the lack of accountability and the laziness were astounding. His experience working there turned him from a lib into a conservative.

All the eduction seems to have taught them is how to look busy.

Not all of them, just most of them.

I have worked in government at various times over the last 35 years. While in the military I found the people to generally be more motivated and harder working than average Americans. While in the civilian government work force I found them to be less motivated and less capable than average American workers. The idea that they should earn more, or get higher pay raises and bonuses is BS.

My apologies if you or a family member are federal employees who actually work, but I will say that I have worked as a govt. contractor on a military base and have seen first hand quite a few federal employees who DON’T DO JACK SQUAT during their work day!

I’ve even watched several sit around, play solitare, read romance novels, surf the web, take LOOOONG lunches, leave early, endless smoke breaks, socializing, run a side business from their desks, etc.

I’ve heard several BRAG about how little they do when working the “owl shift” and how they play poker and sleep all night.

Not quite right. We imagine federal employees do nothing that anyone would pay them for in the private sector (ie nothing of value) and still get paid.

The country would be better off if they did nothing all day. The problem is that they actually do some work, work that slowly destroys the country.

As a former employee of the Postal Service, does it bother you in the slightest that everything the Postal Service does could be done better and cheaper by private postal carriers - if they were allowed to exist.

Yup, and that is terribly unfair to those who in fact are reading the Post all day.

Actually, I think the problem is the perception that too many federal workers do little to nothing of real value.

Some Federal workers are useful and work their butts off. But many are totally useless, do nothing useful to society all day and are overpaid affirmative action dopes

Offhand we could easily get by with half the number of Federal workers. Take the newly created Federal Department of Education. This came with a new cabinet post created. This whole department could be eliminated

The Feds have hijacked far too many areas that are enumerated to the States. And off course hired millions of Democrat party lard asses to staff this bureaucracy

Yep! - Except its not in any way imaginary; its at least 60% of them. Forest Service is the worst.
